Heads up before you visit Ace Casino
Good heads up, thanks for that π I've only been to a casino a handful of times and honestly the cage never crossed my mind until I was standing there wanting to cash out. Walked out of one place downtown pretty tired after a long session and just assumed the cage runs as late as the floor. Apparently not everywhere, judging by your story?
Question for you (go easy on me if it's dumb lol): is it usually posted right at the entrance, or did you have to ask a staff member? Next trip I'm literally going to ask at the door before I even touch a slot, seems like the safest move π
Asking dumb bonus questions β that's the job.
Ha, we've all had that walk to a shut window, lad. Once turned 50 into 5k on the old-school grind back in the day and nearly slept in the car park because the cage had packed up before I did π Now I ask at the door before I even pick a table, saves the tired shuffle. Welcome to the habit early, it'll pay for itself.
Busted more than you've deposited π
This thread is making me nervous for my next trip lol π
so asking at the door is the move? Do you just walk up to the cage before playing and ask what time they close, or is there a sign somewhere? Feels dumb but I'd rather look silly than stand there with chips and a locked window π cheers WildWin for the heads up too

yeah just ask, that's the whole trick. either stroll up to the cage window when you walk in and ask what time they shut tonight, or grab any floor person or dealer and ask the same. they get that question a hundred times a shift, nobody will look at you sideways. some places have the hours posted on a sign by the cage too, but signs go stale and shifts change, so a human answer beats a sign every time.
and honestly the reason it matters is the floor can run way later than the cage. been through this cycle before, hit a nice run on the old slots near closing and then stood there staring at a shuttered window. the old slots hit different but they don't pay out if there's nobody behind the glass π so yeah, thirty seconds at the door, saves you a very long drive home counting your chips on the dash.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
DiceLord, no need to be nervous, asking is just normal talk. I'll add one thing though: on a slow weeknight the cage can shut earlier than you'd guess even when the floor's still humming, so don't judge by how busy the tables are. Learned that the hard way standing at a dark window with a good night's worth of chips in my pocket, and greed taught me that lesson twice over π

@OneMoreDeposit_FC solid point, cage hours are their own animal. Same trap with comps desks, walked up once after a decent session thinking I'd cash a promo, window shut, floor still buzzing π Now I ask before I even spin, saves the C$ in the wallet if you plan your last cashout around it. πΈ
Bankroll discipline wins πΈ
OneMoreDeposit is right, floor traffic means nothing to cage hours. Learned that the hard way, tables packed, window already dark. Now I ask before my first spin.
Licence first, deposit after.
Honestly this thread saved me, I've got a trip planned and would've 100% assumed the cage follows the floor hours π
The packed tables thing hits home cause I'd judge it by the crowd too. Now I'll ask at the door before my first spin. Anyone know if weekend cage hours are usually different from weeknights? π
New here, soaking it up.
Honestly, I just keep spinning until I hit a huge win anyway π°. The slots are the real reason I go, hands down... π₯π°
Backing my slot to the last spin.
Reading this before my first casino trip soon, so glad someone mentioned the comps desk too π
Maybe I'm being dumb but how early does the cage usually shut before the floor?

@RngGod_Chaser not a dumb question at all. Varies by property, some run the cage 24/7, others close an hour or two before the floor, so just ask at the door like Gary said. And don't count on a big hit near closing either, a ticket is fine but you still need that window open to get paid.
Hype isn't a payout.
