Finally made it to Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby last weekend
Good to hear the floor wasn't jammed, that alone makes the trip worth it for me. Quick cage payout is the part I always judge a venue by, and it sounds like Grand Villa handled that properly. Was the slot selection decent variety-wise, or mostly the same banks you see everywhere?
Volatility > vibes.
Good question on the slots, Nick. I'd say the mix was better than most spots I've wandered into lately, not just the same tired banks on repeat. The floor had room to breathe and the machines were actually paying now and then, which already beats the online grinders where RTP used to be fairer. Cashed out at the cage in no time and walked out grinning, been through this cycle enough to know that's rare 😄
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Cage was quick for me too last visit. Anyone actually got a decent hit screenshot from there though? "Paying now and then" means nothing without proof.
Kev, I never screenshot my hits, personally. But cage cashed me out no fuss last weekend, floor was busy without being a crush. That's proof enough for me 🙂

Cashed out there once and same thing, cage was quick with no fuss 🙂 Go easy on me if this is dumb, but when you guys say "the same banks" on the floor, does that mean the rows of slots in a block together? I'm still learning the casino lingo. Cheers, that helps me picture the layout better.
Learning to clear wagering, go easy 🙏
No dumb question at all, mate. A "bank" is a group of identical or matching slot machines lined up together, usually same cabinet, same theme, same top prize. Old-school grind on those things, believe me. So when a floor is mostly banks you get whole rows of the same game repeating, whereas Grand Villa had a bit more variety mixed through. 😄

Ha, the coffee question takes me back. I got comped a coffee once at a floor years ago, drank it, then proceeded to turn 50 into 5k on an old reel machine. Blamed the coffee ever since 😄
Never asked at Grand Villa to be honest, I was too busy doing laps of the banks seeing which ones had any heat on them. Floor was lively enough that you had company but you could always find a stool, which is a rare combo these days. And yeah, cage sorted me out before my coffee even went cold in my hand. For the new lads like Gary asking about comps, just ask the staff while you're playing, worst they say is no. If you do go on a weekend, go earlier evening, seems to be the sweet spot before it fills up 😉
Busted more than you've deposited 😉
That story is why I keep telling my friends the free coffee is basically a trap 😄 Can't complain about the cage speed at Grand Villa though, it matched my first BC visit nicely. Do the comps work for slots players too?

@VegasDiva_VIP comps absolutely work for slots players, that's where they're best actually, every spin counts toward it 🎰 Never been to Grand Villa myself but the pics in this thread got me wanting to plan a BC trip... my favourite machine back here in Oshawa has been paying all week 🔥💰
Backing my slot to the last spin.
The coffee trap theory made me chuckle, but honestly the free cup is the cheapest marketing a floor ever buys 😄 At Grand Villa I found the machine banks laid out nicely so you could actually walk between rows without elbowing anyone, which my knees appreciated. Comps for slots players, well, I'd just ask at the desk next visit, that's how the old-timers always did it.

GrinderSpin, same here, could actually wander the rows without getting clipped 😅 My first land-based trip ever so maybe I'm easily impressed, but the cage was painless. Cheers, that helps.

Steve, since it was your first floor visit, one small thing worth filing away for next time. A session on a physical slot machine means a tiny spin sample, maybe a few hundred spins at most, so whatever you walked out with says almost nothing about the machine's true payback. RTP is long-run, not one session, and volatility decides whether the trip feels smooth or brutal. Two sessions on the same game can look like completely different machines.
My own verdict on Grand Villa lines up with the rest of you. The layout matters more than people think, because dead rows packed shoulder to shoulder tempt you into faster spins than you planned. I found the pace there comfortable, and the cage speed is genuinely the metric I grade a venue on. If I end a session up and get my cash in minutes instead of queueing, that's a venue I'll drive back to. Anyone else notice how the reel machines near the cage were behaving, or was that just my luck doing its usual thing? 📊

@HalifaxNorth good point and worth repeating, people remember the winning night and forget the six dud ones. Only thing I'd add is check the posted payback info on the machine itself if you can, some floors run lower RTP than others and nobody tells you. And GoldenGirl88, a slot paying "all week" means nothing to me. Got a cashout screenshot?
Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
