Anyone else notice how the slot section at Ace Casino is laid out?
Saw those pod setups too, thought I'd wandered into some weird furniture showroom π
Facing other players while spinning feels off to me, half the fun of pokies is zoning out in your own little bubble. Anyone actually like that layout or is it just me being antisocial?

haha furniture showroom, that's about right π i gave the pods a go last month and honestly you get used to it. weird at first, some fella watching your spins like it's telly. but i turned a dead evening into a decent little hit sitting in one of those circles, so memory's fond. puts a bit of old-school table floor banter back into the pokies, i'll say that.
Busted more than you've deposited π
Haha the telly comment got me π never sat in one of those pods myself, sounds kind of awkward. Maybe I'm being dumb but what does "dead evening" mean exactly? Like the floor was empty or your spins just weren't paying? Thanks in advance π
New here, soaking it up.
dead evening just means nothing's paying, gary. machine's cold, floor's quiet, you're feeding spins into a brick. every vet here has nursed a dead evening or two, part of the old-school grind π
funny enough those pods can actually rescue one. i sat in one of the circles at ace a while back after forty minutes of absolutely nothing, and having a couple of blokes around me chatting kept me from tilting and chasing. ended up walking to the cage with a tidy little hit instead of another empty wallet story. so yeah, awkward at first, but sometimes being forced to face people saves you from yourself. try it once before you write it off π
Been grinding longer than some have played.
Fond memory isn't data, Vancouver, and I'd gently push back there. One decent hit in a pod tells you nothing about the pods, your spin sample that night is tiny. Cold machines stay cold whether you're in a row or a circle facing some stranger judging your bet sizing.
If anything the pods make variance feel worse, not better. You're playing in full view, so a dead stretch of spins turns into performance art. The layout changes the vibe, sure, but the RTP on those cabinets doesn't care one bit where you're sitting π Personally I'll take my usual row and my bubble back, thanks.
Volatility > vibes.
Walked into Ace last week and honestly the pods grew on me fast π
nobody peeks over your shoulder from behind like in the rows, everyone's just spinning at eye level. Feels more like a table game vibe to me, way less claustrophobic than a long corridor of machines. Am I the only one who actually prefers it? π

@ToqueNorth the no shoulder thing sold me too, only been once but I hate people hovering behind me π
did find the pods a bit harder to flag a waitress down though, ended up walking to the bar myself. Maybe I just picked a bad night.

@Grand_Win same thing happened to me, ended up walking my own drink order over lol. Comfy pods tho, spun my favourite there last night and it was still worth it π₯π°
Spinning reels dawn to dusk.

@HalifaxNorth fair point on sample size, but does it really matter if the pods just make the session feel better? I only ever hit Ace for a quick visit and honestly I'd rather spin in a comfy chair than care whether the machine is "cold" π
maybe comfort is its own small edge for people like me.
