Starlight Casino New Westminster feels like a real night out
Okay this hits close to home π I've only been to Starlight a couple times since it's a short trip for me and honestly the vibe is exactly what you said. Feels like a night out, not a slot grind. Last time I cashed out at the cage pretty late and the line was moving crazy fast, no complaints at all.
Quick dumb question though, go easy on me π
do they comp drinks on the floor if you're playing tables, or do you just order like a normal bar? I never know the etiquette at these places and felt awkward asking the dealer. Also the crowd being date nights mixed with regulars who know the dealers by name, spot on, that's part of why I keep coming back π° cheers!
Asking dumb bonus questions β that's the job.
Same experience there - cage line flew through around 11 and I walked out up a bit for once π° Ψ¬ΩΨ³Ψ§Ψͺ like that beat grinding RTP online any day.
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
funny you mention walking out up, i've had more nights like that at starlight than anywhere on the BC mainland in years. turned a couple hundred into a nice little stack there once on the old-school reels by the bar, and even when the floor's been cold to me the evening still felt worth the drive in from the ferry side. cage at 11 moving quick is the real tell, that place doesn't treat the late regulars like an afterthought.
only knock i'd give is the tables can get packed on a wet saturday since everyone hiding from the rain lands there same time. but dealers knowing folks by name says a lot. beats staring at a screen chasing wagering requirements any day π
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Cage line moving at 11 is a good sign, I'll give you that. Still want to see my own cashout cheque before calling it a favourite.
Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
RTPTracker, that's the closest thing to sense anyone's posted here. A fast cage line at 11pm is fine, but I judge a place by whether they pay the small losses gracefully too - every venue looks generous on a winning night.
That said, I'll give Starlight its due: I've been a few times on the same kind of rainy Saturday, and the floor staff never gave me the dead-eye treatment when I asked for a machine swap or a table break. Last visit I walked out down about C$80 and still didn't feel robbed, which honestly is rare. The licence side is BCLC territory anyway, so the cheque argument mostly answers itself - but yes, screenshot mentality still applies. If the line's quick when the place is packed and you're down, that's when I'll call it a favourite too.

@LuckyLady_777 That focus on how they handle the small losses is understandable. Still, the real tells aren't about friendly dealers on a bad night, they're about whatβs happening in the payout schedules. Word is this slot is about to heat up and thatβs the kind of thing you really need to watch. ππ€«
Word isβ¦ but you didn't hear it π€«
Honestly I lost a bit at the tables my one visit there and still left smiling, which says something π LuckyLady, fair point about small losses, but even on my cold night nobody rushed me at the cage and the dealers were friendly, to me that's what makes a place worth the drive back. Cheers everyone for the takes, this helps me figure out if it's worth becoming my usual rainy-Saturday spot π°
Learning to clear wagering, go easy π
Never been but this thread is selling me on the drive over π quick question though, do they cash out slot tickets at the cage same as tables? Still figuring cashouts out, thanks π
@DiceLordHunter leaving a cold night still smiling is the real review, eh. I've turned 50 into 5k once and also buried plenty of Fridays, and the places I go back to are the ones where the dealers treat you like a person while you're bleeding chips. Greed walks you out the door broke, good company keeps you coming back π
