Man, I finally made the trek over to New Westminster and checked out the Starlight place last night. It’s definitely more of a vibe than I expected, honestly. I spent most of my time just walking the floor around 8pm and watching the slots; there was a decent crowd but it wasn't completely packed. My main question is if it's worth going for a night, since I just wanted to see what the physical layout and atmosphere were like. I ended the night by hitting the cage and getting my cash out, which was super quick and smooth, so that was a good sign for me. Any tips for a first-timer who might wanna spend a few hours chilling on the gaming floor or just hitting the machines? 😊

Watching slots at 8pm tells you nothing about whether the machines pay. Skeptic in me wants the cashout proof, but sounds like you walked out via the cage with zero hassle, which is more than I can say for some Lower Mainland floors. Worth the trip for the vibe alone? Maybe. Worth it for the slots? Show me a withdrawal slip and I'll believe the hype.

Haha maybe I'm being dumb but what does "cashing out at the cage" mean exactly? Like a physical cash desk where they hand you actual money? Still learning this stuff, I always figured you just hit a button on the machine 😅

i remember when I first started hitting these places around the time things started ramping up and it was such a different game than the slots that used to pay back in my day. when you talk about cashing out at the cage, you mean literally going over to that big desk with the staff at the casino floor. it’s not just pressing a button on the machine, which is what most of us do online, right? if you’re playing physically, when you decide you want your winnings in actual cash or transfer them to your bank, you take your cards or your winnings and go talk to a representative at the cage. they verify everything and give you the money. i did exactly that at Starlight when I left, just walked in with my winnings from the pokies and got the cash, zero issues. it’s just the traditional way of settling up when you're out in the flesh at a land-based spot.
I remember the old slots first-hand.

Ha, hitting a button on the machine, that's cute 😄 the ticket printer spits out a slip and you take it to the cage, real human, real cash, very satisfying after a good run. And BalanceZero, watching a floor at 8pm does tell you something, dead machines don't attract a crowd, that floor had life to it. The old slots hit different, sure, but I've seen worse rooms than that one.
It's all hit and busted before, folks.

Getting paid at the cage was totally painless, which made the trip worth it! ✨ Do you guys think the slots are always good at Starlight?
