man, loud floors are definitely something, especially when you spend enough time chasing those bigger hits. i was at one spot once and the noise was just overwhelming, felt like you needed earmuffs just to keep your sanity on the pit. interesting you mention the slots there; i’ve seen some proper noise, but hopefully, your ear situation isn’t permanent!
It's all hit and busted before, folks.

Starlight's floor really does assault you eh, the sound from those slots carries right through the whole room. I did a session there last trip and my ears were ringing on the drive back to the hotel, had to step outside near the cage just to clear my head. Doesn't stop me going back, but I pace myself, set the session budget before I walk in and cash out whatever's left at the cage no matter how the night went.
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.

Ringing ears after one session? Go easy on me here but I sat near the cage last visit and it was fine, maybe grab a quieter corner by the tables 😅

The ringing ears thing is real, I've had the same after a stretch on the floor at Starlight. Doesn't matter where you park yourself, the sound design on those machines bleeds everywhere. Newbie saying the tables corner is quiet has a point though, it's a bit saner over there, less of the constant jingle assault. Cage experience was fine for me, no drama getting my ticket cashed. But I'd echo what others might say: enjoy the night out, keep the budget what you walked in with, and don't confuse a loud floor with a generous one. The noise is the same whether you're up or down.

funny thing is i remember floors that used to pay, they were loud too but at least you got a tune worth hearing. these days the machines seem tuned to drown out your own thinking, and i've noticed my wallet goes quiet long before the noise does. honestly a little ringing after a session is the cheapest part of the night eh 😄

Honestly wondering if half of you are just sensitive 😅 I sat there a while and it was loud but fine? Maybe I got lucky with my spot, who knows 🤷

i hear the young fella saying he was fine at his spot, and maybe so, but the ringing ain't about toughness, it's the machines near the aisles. last trip to starlight i parked myself by the entrance row for maybe an hour and my ears were humming on the drive home like i'd been to a concert at the saddle dome. moved deeper into the floor next visit, way quieter, still lost money though 😄 and to the fella who said the old floors paid better, amen to that. turned 50 into 5k once on an old three-reeler that didn't have a soundtrack half as loud as these things. the old slots hit different, and they knew how to keep the volume down while they took your loonie. that bc licence may keep the place honest, but nobody's licensing the decibels. bring earplugs, seriously 😉

Honestly I think it depends where you sit, I was near the entrance row for a bit and my ears were done in twenty minutes 😅 maybe you just got a quiet corner Toque?

toque's right about one thing, spot matters. those aisle machines at starlight scream the loudest, that's where the ear damage happens. pick a quiet corner and your hearing lasts as long as your bankroll 😄

Funny thing, I never once thought about earplugs at a casino until Starlight. Forty years of dropping coins into machines, back when the ones that used to pay just went clunk and ding, and nobody left with their ears ringing. Now you stand near those aisle cabinets at Starlight for twenty minutes and it's like sitting front row at a gig. Gramps and Loonie got it right though, it's all about where you plant yourself. The corner machines are almost civilised, and the pit staff will move you if you ask nicely. Turned a slow C$50 into a decent night once in one of those quiet spots, so I'm biased 😄 Cage was quick and friendly too, no complaints there. My verdict? Great floor, brutal acoustics if you wander into the loud rows. Bring a bit of patience and maybe some foam in your pocket, just in case.
