Odd little discovery on my first walk into Starlight Casino in New
That open feel right when you walk in is so nice, I hate places where you're lost past a wall of slots π
Wait, the cage had basically no line on a weeknight?? Asking because I've only ever cashed out downtown once and queued forever π« Is Starlight worth the trip out from Vancouver on a random Wednesday, or is the floor kinda dead then? Go easy on me, first regulars trip here π
Asking dumb bonus questions β that's the job.
Weeknight cage with no line is worth real money to me - because cashing out in time is everything, and standing in a queue after a good hit is how people talk themselves back into the pit π
I took my ticket to the window basically immediately, counted, done. And yeah, that open table pit right off the entrance means you size the floor up in two minutes instead of wandering past dead machines. π°πΈ

hah, counted and done at the window, that's the way it should be. turned 50 into 5k once back in the day and the cage queue was long enough to talk myself into "one more spin" on the wayβ¦ lost half of it standing there π weeknight visits here remind me how the old-school grind used to feel, floor open enough that you can actually find your way out instead of wandering past walls of pokies. keep that ticket habit going, kid π
Busted more than you've deposited π
The quick cage is real, I'll give Starlight that much. Did a weeknight cashout there myself, ticket to the window, counted, gone. No queue means no standing there watching the pit out of the corner of your eye, and Provably24 is right. That dead time is where good nights go to die. VancouverLocal's story about losing half a win in the cage line is the most honest thing posted in this thread.
Only thing I'd add: the open floor cuts both ways. Tables right at the entrance look friendly, but that also means the pit catches you either way, walking in and walking out with money still in your pocket. Easy enough to drift for one more hand when there's no wall of slots blocking the view. Nice venue, worth the trip from the lower mainland, but the cage being fast only matters if you actually use it.
Licence first, deposit after.
Right π
I'd be the guy talking myself back in during a long queue, so that quick cage genuinely saves my bankroll. Open pit near the entrance helps too - easy to walk out clean. cheers, that helps hearing it confirmed! π

funny thing is, quick cage cuts both ways lads. Takes less time to talk yourself out the door, sure, but also less time to cool off before you're back feeding the machines two minutes later π mind you, the open pit by the entrance does half that job on its own, you can see the exit while you're losing. RTP used to be fairer on the old floors, but the walk-out design here beats a queue any night.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Quick cage cuts both ways for sure π
I only cashed out small there once but counting the cheque at the window with zero queue felt oddly satisfying, almost made me forget I was down overall.

funny how everyone's crediting the short queue with saving their bankroll π lads, in my day the walk to the cage was the saving grace. Ten minutes of shuffling past the pokies, staring at your shoes, and by the time you got the ticket counted you'd already remembered the rent was due. turned 50 into 5k once at a place with a glacial cage line, and I swear that slow walk to the window is half the reason I left with the winnings instead of feeding them back.
Starlight's open pit do help though, I'll grant the original poster that. seeing the door from the floor does something to a man's judgement. but don't kid yourselves about the quick cage being your guardian angel, nobody holds a gun to your head at the window, samarai discipline comes from upstairs, not from the queue length π
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Funny, my first visit there I used the long shuffle past the slots as my "think about it" time and still went back in π
maybe a quick cage is the kinder setup, eh?

Only been once but that walk past the tables straight to the cage was honestly my cool-down too π
quick queue just meant I didn't have time to change my mind. Is that a win or not, eh?
@YYCLocal win for sure, a fast cage just locks in the win before your head talks you back in π did the same last visit, cashed out n walked straight to the door... smart move honestly π€
Spinning reels dawn to dusk.
Fast cage is dangerous for me honestly, no walk means no chance to cool down π
I need that shuffle to remember why I came for a cashout in the first place π₯
Cashing out in time is half the battle.

@Victoria99 you hit the nail on the head, cashing out immediately is everything when you find a winning run. I've had sessions where I walked past the cage five times and thought about running back to the slots, but once I hit a decent amount, moving straight to cashout felt like closing a deal. It's pure discipline for the bankroll. π₯
