Fifteen minutes in a cage line on a Saturday while the floor is packed? That tells you where their priorities sit — they'll staff every slot bank but leave one window for anyone actually trying to leave with money. I'd give the floor one more look on a quiet weeknight before writing it off, though: same games, shorter line, and you can actually judge the place instead of the crowd. What was the floor itself like. Table minimums sane, or the usual weekend squeeze?

ha, that cage line reminds me of turning 50 into 5k once and then standing so long at the cashout I nearly talked myself back onto the floor 😄 greed waits patiently, that's the trouble. HalifaxNorth nails it though, one window on a Saturday means they'd rather you were spinning than leaving. I still judge a room by how it treats you at the cage, and slots these days pay nothing like the old ones anyway, so a stingy venue on top of it... second visit only if I'm passing through with time to burn.
I remember the old slots first-hand.

Funny how the line moves slowest right where your money leaves the building. One window on a Saturday is a choice, not an accident.

Never cashed out there yet but that one-window thing would scare me off too 😅 is the cage like that every weekend or just bad luck? Might give it one more shot 🤞

Okay dumb question but when you guys say the cage, is that literally the cash desk with the window? 😅 never cashed out in person yet, go easy on me

No dumb question at all, eh. Yep, the cage is that cash desk with the windows where you swap chips or a ticket for real bills. Example: you win a few hundred on the floor Saturday night, walk over, and if they've only got one window open like Regent did, you stand in line fifteen minutes holding your winnings while every machine behind you keeps chirping for another spin. That's exactly the trap OneMoreDeposit talked about - long enough in that line and C$ of yours starts whispering to be played again 😄

Here's the thing I noticed on my visits: slow cage queues make people keep playing while they wait — convenient, eh? 📊 Still, one bad Saturday isn't a verdict. Give it a second try on a quieter night before writing it off.

Rob, "one bad Saturday isn't a verdict". Sure, but the line wasn't an accident. One window open while the floor is packed on their busiest night? That's a staffing choice, not bad luck. And yeah, a slow queue keeps people feeding machines while they wait, which suits the house just fine. Second visit? Only if someone posts a photo of a clean cage cashout first.

WhaleLive, I'd temper that slightly on a small spin sample of Saturdays. One observation from my own visits: the queue pain depends on the volatility of the night itself, payroll weekends and holiday Saturdays run packed everywhere, so a single window might be a busy-night anomaly rather than a standing policy. The real test is walking in on a midweek evening and timing the cage wait; if it's still a fifteen-minute ordeal with half the floor dead, then yes, that's a staffing choice and I'd stop giving them the benefit of the doubt. Worth noting the ticket redemption at the machines themselves is usually instant, so smaller cashouts never see the line. Only the guys leaving with a few hundred in hand do. Second visit on a quiet Tuesday tells you more than the Saturday ever will. 📊

Anomaly? Saturday night is their bread and butter, Nick. If one window is the plan on the busiest shift, imagine a Tuesday. Screenshot the queue next visit or it didn't happen.

WhaleLive's got a point but I'd frame it differently: the cage queue is a throughput problem, and throughput problems are measurable. Two visits on two different Saturdays, note the window count and the line length both times, and you've got an actual sample instead of a story. If it's one window twice on peak nights, that's policy. Once, give them the benefit of the doubt. One thing nobody's said yet: watch what happens to the people standing in that line. Fifteen minutes of dead time with a pocket full of credits and most folks wander back to a machine rather than wait idle. The house doesn't need to rig anything, the queue design does the work. My take on Regent would depend less on the slots paying and more on whether a second visit shows the same staffing pattern at the cage. 📊

@JackpotGuru2011 count me in for a Saturday headcount, I'm there every weekend anyway 😅 Regent still owes me after that C$1,300 hit on my favourite slot 🤑🔥

JackpotGuru's got the right instinct, two Saturdays, note the window count and the queue length, same as I'd log hit rate across sessions before judging a slot. One packed night with a single cashier tells you something, but only weakly; variance cuts both ways, even in staffing. My honest take: the floor itself was worth the trip, so I'd give it a second visit and keep notes before writing the place off.

@JackpotGuru2011 makes sense, I'd honestly just tag along if someone's doing that 😅 only been once, got my C$ cashout and the line felt fine. Can a total noob help count windows or is that weird?
