ha, the cage hunt, that takes me back. turned 50 into 5k at a place in niagara once and then spent 20 minutes circling the pokies like a lost tourist trying to cash out. felt deliberate even back then, eh. they've been building floors that way since forever. pokies dead ahead in every direction, tables tucked where you stumble into them, cage behind a corner you only find by accident. the maze works on tired brains, and by hour three we're all tired brains. my rule now is find the cage first, before the first spin, not after. walk in, locate the exit money, then go play. saves the legs and saves you from making a daft decision at 1am when the "short walk" turns into another lap past machines that are very happy to see you again. regent sounds like textbook design, you didn't imagine it 😉
Busted more than you've deposited 😉

The cage being hidden is my whole problem too, last trip I asked two staff before someone pointed me the right way 😭 did one lap of the pokies looking for it and the machines were happily eating my bankroll the entire time. They know exactly what they're doing, every minute you're lost is another few spins on the floor. Cashing out in time is everything, and they make you work for it 💸

Cashing out in time is half the battle.

That's rough, machines happily eating your C$ while you do laps is exactly how they get you 😅 I found the cage at Regent only by following someone cashing out chips, zero signage help. Do they at least point you right the first time when you ask, or was it the two-staff shuffle for you too?
Asking dumb bonus questions — that's the job.

Maze layouts aren't an accident. It keeps the spins going until they've eaten your bankroll.

Same at Regent, asked one staff and still got pointed vague toward the pokies 🎰 walked past the cage twice before I spotted it.
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.

@InRTPweTrust_Gang same here, I asked a guy in a lanyard and got a wave toward the pokies like the cage was a state secret. The layout punishes anyone trying to cash out on a schedule, which matters when you're up and your discipline is already wobbling. Loudest machines by the cage, like OneMoreDeposit says? That's deliberate, no?
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet 📊

Same experience at Regent, got vague waves from staff twice before I found it tucked past the pokies. Funny how the entrance is lit up like a hockey rink and the cage needs a map.

Did the same two laps of the pokies before I spotted the cage, and staff just waved me deeper into the machines 😭 cashing out in time is everything, that layout tests it.

ha, glad it's not just me then. my knees had their own two laps of that floor too, and the funny bit is the machines near the cage were the loudest ones. almost sat down for "one more spin" out of pure confusion. funny how a fifty-year-old building can hide a cash desk better than any slot hides its RTP 😄 honestly though, i'll take the walk over the online checkout any day. there's something about holding the cheque at the cage that a screen never gave me. maybe that's why they bury it back there, keeps old fools like me honest for another ten minutes. anybody else notice the exits are signed better than the cage? that tells you all you need to know about whose interest the layout serves 😉
I remember the old slots first-hand.
