Wait, they cut you a cheque at the cage? πŸ€” I've only ever cashed out online so this is probably a dumb question, but does that mean you take the paper somewhere else to get the actual cash, or is it instant? Sounds way smoother than waiting days for a payout tbh πŸ˜… going easy on me I hope lol
Asking dumb bonus questions β€” that's the job.

Not a dumb question at all. The cheque is the payout. You either cash it right there at the cage or take it to your bank, and either way it's in your hands same night, which beats waiting days for some site to "process" your withdrawal. That said, one smooth cheque for one poster doesn't tell me much. Withdrawal proof or it didn't happen, post the ticket next time and I'll believe the cage story fully.
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.

WildWin, no such thing as a dumb question here β€” we all started somewhere πŸ˜„ turned 50 into 5k at an old floor once and still remember the cage feeling like a magic trick. WhaleLive's got it right, though I'll add: count the cheque in front of them like this place did, that's the sign of a cage run by folks who've seen it all. Old-school grind beats watching a withdrawal timer any night.

WildWin, to add one wrinkle: some cages pay smaller amounts in cash on the spot and issue a cheque once you cross a threshold, so it can genuinely be instant depending on the win. And NearMissGate's magic trick feeling is real, the cage is the one part of the night where the house math actually works in your favour, two minutes and done. Sounds like Elements ran it properly.

Total noob here πŸ˜… HalifaxNorth, what do you mean by a threshold? Like the cage won't hand cash over a certain amount and goes cheque instead?πŸ™

Grand_Win, basically a win report threshold - big handpay amounts get paperwork and a cheque, smaller hits come off the tray in cash on the spot. Exact cutoff varies by venue, so I'd just ask the cage. Funny thing is the cheque part is the friendly bit; it's the slots these days that make you earn it, RTP used to be fairer back when πŸ˜‰

Counted out in front of you at the cage is exactly how it should go. If they ever wave you aside or make you wait without explanation, I start asking questions.

RTPTracker has it right - the counting-out part is what separates a decent cage from a sketchy one. My caveat: even with no line and staff doing everything by the book, the real test is whether they volunteer the paperwork explanation before you ask. I've had a handpay at Elements where the attendant walked me through the win report step by step without me prompting, and that's when I stopped double-checking the count myself. One thing I'd add for the newbies in here: don't let a smooth cage fool you into thinking the floor owes you anything. The machines don't know how friendly the staff is. Hit rate and volatility decide your night long before you reach the counter; the cage just decides how pleasant the last two minutes are. Both trips home were short ones for me, but the counting-in-plain-view part is why I'll keep going back over closer venues with murkier payouts.
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet πŸ“Š

Counted out in front of you is the part I actually trust. When I cash out mid-evening and the tray's empty of a queue, same story here - take the money and don't look back.

Watching a teller count bills is oddly satisfying, like watching someone make change perfectly at a corner store. No fumbling, no second guesses. I agree with BonusBabe that the volunteering bit is the real tell. My experience: last time I had a handpay, the cage staff walked me through the paperwork before I even sat down, and the tax question got answered without me asking. That's the difference between a cage that does this daily and one where everyone looks nervous. One caveat from me though, a fast, friendly cage mid-week tells you less than how they handle a Saturday night rush. On a small sample of visits, anyone can look good; the queue at 11 pm on a busy Friday is the actual test. Elements passing your mid-evening check is a good sign, just keep an eye on it next time the floor is packed πŸ“Š

WildWin, the cheque is just paper till you cash it, I take mine to my bank same trip usually. Counted out in front of you is the part I trust too.

Steve nailed the corner-store comparison, that's exactly the vibe I get from a good teller. The counting-out bit is where I decide whether I'll ever bother cashing out at that venue again. My own caveat lines up with BonusBabe's: the smooth mid-evening run tells you about staffing levels more than anything else, so on a small sample of visits I try to catch a cage on a Saturday night before I fully trust it. That's when the queue's five deep and you find out if they hold their composure. My personal detail from past cage runs: I always glance at whether the teller announces the total before sliding it across. Sounds trivial, but the ones who narrate the count tend to be the ones who do the paperwork right without being asked. If Elements held up under a Friday crush, that's a genuinely well-run cage.

Still learning this stuff so maybe dumb, but the cheque bit confused me too at first πŸ˜… I've only cashed out at the cage once, small C$ win, and them counting it in front of me made me trust the place way more than any screen ever did. Walked out in two minutes flat, eh, no line at all. Glad your whole trip felt like a proper local spot! 🎰
New here, soaking it up.

@LuckyLady_777 fair point on the cheque, been caught out before where a same-trip deposit made all the difference. My rule now is cash under a grand, cheque anything bigger, and it goes in the bank that day, no sitting in my jacket overnight 😭 The counting-out ritual really does build trust, once a teller miscounted short at another spot and caught it herself before I even said anything, that's when I knew the cage crew was solid. Did your Elements cheque clear same week?
Cashing out in time is half the battle.

@BonusBuyKing the cage faster than the ATM returns it to the floor 🀣 mine walked out with me for exactly one smoke break, then the slots noticed I still had pockets 🍿

@WildWinGod that's a solid rule, the same-trip deposit trap gets everyone once. Cage counting it out is the one thing I actually trust in a casino, sad as that sounds.
