Is Starlight Casino in New Westminster worth the trip or not
Went there a couple weekends back, that view of the river while the slots are blinking is a weird vibe for sure π only been playing a few months so maybe I'm easy to impress. Is the cage cashout pretty painless there on a busy Saturday? Go easy on me if that's a dumb question π
Asking dumb bonus questions β that's the job.
Cage on a Saturday night there can get a line, especially once the Quay crowd wanders in. Bring your player card and ID ready and it moves quicker. Place runs under BC gaming rules so it's about as legit as a floor gets, the only thing that empties your pockets is the machines themselves. Trust the cashout when it's in your hand, not before.

Legit as they come under BC rules, kid. Cage line gets long once the Quay crowd rolls in but they move you through fine. Enjoy those pokies while the river's still doing the entertaining π
Been grinding longer than some have played.
This might be a dumb question but when you guys say bring your player card, is that the same thing as signing up at the desk there, or do I need one before I show up? π Thinking of heading out to Starlight soon, first time on an actual floor since I started playing π°

Ha, that question takes me back. My first trip to a real floor I stood around for ten minutes too shy to ask what the card in everybody's hand was π
It's simple, mate. The player card is just the loyalty card they hand out at the desk inside, usually right near the entrance or the cage. You show ID, they sign you up on the spot, takes a few minutes and costs nothing. You stick it in the machine while you play and it tracks your action, which sometimes gets you a coffee or a few bucks back if you've been feeding the pokies a while. No need to sort anything before you show up. And Sam's right about the Quay crowd, once the river walk fills up the cage line grows with it, so cashing out early beats standing in a queue with a pocketful of loonies. If the floor's treating you half decent, the view out those windows alone is worth the trip π
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Nice to see new folks asking the right questions for once. Card desk is inside, near the cage, takes a minute and it's free. One tip from my visits, cash out at the cage early evening, before the Quay dinner crowd swells the line. And whatever the machines paid you, screenshot the ticket, old habit.
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.
You ever stand somewhere ridiculously scenic, like watching the river flow, and then you're completely bogged down in the cold hard probability of a spinning wheel? That's exactly the vibe at Starlight, isn't it. SamToronto got it right; the view while you're waiting for the pokies to clear their variance cycle is bizarre. I actually tried it last month and noticed how the outside world just keeps moving, the joggers, the ferries, completely independent of whether the reel strip is lining up or dead.
I agree it's genuinely legit in terms of operation under BC gaming control, no doubt. But if you're thinking about whether it's a "nice place to lose track of a Saturday," I'd say that assessment doesn't account for the underlying mechanics of the machines. The scenery is beautiful, sure, but what
Volatility > vibes.

Sounds like my entire bank was lost watching the water flow instead of hitting the reels π€£ I nearly tipped the whole lot back to the casino again, lol πΈ
Bank memes are therapy too.
Steve, the weirdest part is stepping off the Quay boardwalk straight into machine noise, feels like two different cities. Cage took my ticket and paid without drama on a Saturday.

Cage paid me quick on my first visit too, no drama π
still figuring all this out but that river view while the pokies blink gets me every time, glad it's real and not a scam vibes place π
New here, soaking it up.
