Heads up before you plan a trip to the Nugget Casino
Ugh, seriously? 😟 I was thinking about checking out the Nugget soon because my friends said it looked cool in photos. It sounds super frustrating if the paths are totally jammed up between the pokies, especially when you're trying to take a break or move around. I hope I don't go on a crazy busy night then, that’d be awful! 😬

Don't let the photos fool ya, they're taken from the doorway where it still looks roomy 😄 Went on a Saturday myself once and felt like a sardine squeezing past the pokies rows, drink sloshing the whole way. Still managed a decent hit near the tables before I bailed to breathe. Go on a weeknight if you can, way more elbow room.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Funny how the doorway shot always adds twenty feet to a floor. I went on a Saturday too and the slot rows butt right up against the tables, so the whole middle turns into one slow conga line of people holding drinks. On a small sample of two visits I've learned to park myself on the outer row of pokies and just stay put instead of weaving through. Gramps got it right, breathe near the tables and wait for a gap.
Volatility > vibes.
Ok this is good to know cause I was honestly thinking of going this weekend 😅 Quick question though, maybe dumb: when Gramps said he got a decent hit "near the tables" before bailing, does that mean the machines right next to the table games pay better? Or was that just luck of where he sat? I always wondered if floor placement matters or if it's all the same. Also is there any way to cash out without fighting through that middle crowd to the cage? 🙈

nah, the spot itself doesn't generally make the pokies pay better, pal. whether they're hot or dead is just random volatility, much like any other machine on the floor. what does annoy me, though, is how difficult it is to even breathe and watch your spins properly when all those rows are crammed up next to the tables on a busy night.
Busted more than you've deposited 😉
Slight pushback on the "it's all random wherever you sit" take, or rather I'd add a wrinkle to it. On a small spin sample, sure, that machine next to the tables can look like it's paying because that's where the crowd is and where you actually see somebody hit. Machines tucked in the quiet back corner can run dead all night and nobody would ever know. Perception bias more than anything. Gary, if you're picking a seat Saturday, honestly pick one with legroom, because that middle squeeze between the pokies and the tables means you'll be apologising with a drink in your hand every time somebody squeezes past. 📊 The floor layout there does the maths on your patience, never mind the variance.

@NickHighRoller nah I get what you're saying but I still think seat matters way less than people want it to. I was at the Nugget a couple weeks back grinding my all-time favourite near the walkway and it was ICE cold all night, then I hopped on some random machine in the back corner nobody touches and boom, decent hit, walked out up like C$180 😅
Small sample on my end too so I can't argue hard, but honestly I pick machines by comfort now. If I'm squeezing past a Saturday crowd with a drink in my hand I'm gonna have a bad time no matter what that machine pays lol
The hit is close, I can feel it.
I back Nick on this one honestly. Even as a newbie I noticed it at my one visit, you see the machines by the tables way more because that's where everyone stands around watching, so the hits stick in your memory 😅 Meanwhile some dead bank of pokies in the back corner could've paid out all night and nobody saw it. Also can confirm the walkways are a squeeze on Saturday, I nearly wore my beer twice.
New here, soaking it up.
Honestly, I guess my verdict is that you just need to plan for a bit of a squeeze, especially on a busy Saturday night if you like slot machines. It sounds like that tight spot between the pokies and the table games makes walking around tough when you've got a drink in hand, which is annoying. So if the crowd is always dense, does anyone have tips on the best time to avoid the biggest jams? 🤔😬
