Has anyone noticed how the slot area at Gold Horse Casino is set up?
Wait, the slots go all the way around the table pit? π
I've only been to a couple of land casinos so far and both had the pokies dumped in rows along one wall, so this sounds weird to me.
Honestly though it might be smart. If every row dumps you out past the tables, you're basically forced to see them every time you go for a spin or head to the cage. Clever or annoying? Depends if you're trying to avoid the tables I guess lol. Did you find it easy to actually find a specific machine in that circle, or do you just wander till something looks like it's paying? π°
Genuinely asking since I've never seen a floor like that. Might have to check it out myself next weekend.
Asking dumb bonus questions β that's the job.
Smart for the house, maybe. Circle layout like that means you're funnelling past the tables twice a visit, and table pits make more per square foot than pokies do. I'd want to know if the rows are tight enough that you're squeezing through instead of strolling. Did the cage cash out quick at least, or is that buried in the middle of the maze too?

Turned 50 into 5k on the old multiline days so I've walked my share of floors, and yeah, that circle setup gets you every time. Last trip there I meant to head straight for the cage and somehow drifted past the pit twice, ended up down a quick twenty on a side blackjack table before I even noticed π LuckyLady has a point about tight rows, but honestly the spacing felt fine when I went, easy stroll rather than a squeeze.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
NearMissGate's drift past the pit twice sounds about right, that layout is pure funnel design. Annoyingly effective, I've done the same walk without noticing.
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet π
Silly question maybe π
but what does "table pit" mean exactly? Is that just the middle area with all the tables clustered together?
Learning to clear wagering, go easy π
Not a silly question at all, lad. The pit is just that sunken middle area where they cluster the tables together, blackjack and roulette and whatnot, with dealers all around it. At Gold Horse the pokies ring that whole thing, so every row you take drags you past it. Old-school grind taught me you walk in with one plan, that floor will hand you three others π
Busted more than you've deposited π
VancouverLocal nailed the pit explanation, and I'll add the analyst bit: the ring layout works on walk-past exposure the same way hit rate matters more than RTP, foot traffic beats machine placement. My caveat is that once you know the trap it's easy to beat, I gave the floor a once-over from the entrance last visit and plotted my row before moving, walked straight to the pokies I wanted and never drifted once. On a small sample of visits, anyway.
Volatility > vibes.
Walked Gold Horse last month, took a "shortcut" to the cage and ended up passing the pit twice. You notice the dealers calling every hand on that ring, way more than the wall rows anywhere else.
Licence first, deposit after.
That ring layout is deliberate foot traffic engineering, Nick has it right. My caveat though: exposure only converts if the noise pulls you in, and the pit at Gold Horse gets loud enough that on my last visit I actually detoured to the far side rows just for quiet spinning. Depends on the volatility of your mood that night I suppose π
RTP is a long-run number.
Cashing out at the cage there means crossing that ring too, no shortcut exists. Smart on their end, mildly annoying for anyone just heading home.

RTPTracker's cage detour is the real kicker, no way out of that ring. I took a quiet row last visit too, bankroll stayed healthier away from the pit noise π
Same thing happened to me. Thought I'd slip out the side after a losing session, nope, straight past the pit again. Whoever designed that floor knew exactly what they were doing.

They designed the floor just right to make sure your bank's gone, honestly π€£π. Gotta love a scenic route to ruin.
One more spin, promise.
Haven't been yet but this thread makes the layout sound like a maze on purpose π
maybe I'm being dumb asking, but is the cage at least clearly signed from the slot rows?
You won't find the cage signs pointing directly away from the slots. The floor design isn't accidental, itβs engineered to make you keep wandering until your bankroll is depleted. Assume they mapped out the entire area just to ensure you stay in the game as long as possible.
Hype isn't a payout.
