Is McPhillips Casino in Winnipeg worth a visit?
Honestly this is useful for me, been meaning to do a Winnipeg trip and had no idea if McPhillips was worth the time π The cage part is good to hear, I always stress about cashing out at a place I don't know. Around midnight no line sounds like a dream, is the parking a pain there or fine on a Saturday?

Cage stress is fair, I've sat in those lineups too long elsewhere. The no-line cashout near midnight at McPhillips was the part that sold me too. Floor gets busy on a Saturday but you can still move around, which is more than I can say for some spots. Worth the trip if you're already in Winnipeg anyway.

nothing beats a quick cage at midnight, eh. curious if their slots pay better on weekdays, the old-school grind always favoured quiet nights π
Been grinding longer than some have played.
Sam, the weekday-vs-weekend payout question comes up constantly and I've never seen a real sample that supports it. My session logs from a handful of visits show no pattern, and your spin sample on any one night is tiny anyway. RTP is a long-run property baked into the machine, not something the floor tunes for quiet Tuesdays. That said, I'd still rather grind a half-dead floor than fight a Saturday crowd, so maybe we're just chasing comfort and calling it variance. π
Volatility > vibes.
Maybe a dumb question but does the cage take the ticket machines' payouts or do I cash out at the slot first? Still learning this in-person stuff π
New here, soaking it up.
Not a dumb question at all, kid. The machine prints you a ticket when you hit cash out, then you either feed that ticket into another slot or take it to the cage and they pay you there. At McPhillips I just walked mine straight to the cage around midnight, no line, and they sorted it out in a minute. On a smaller win I'd usually just shove the ticket back in and keep spinning though π
Busted more than you've deposited π
HalifaxNorth, your logs are all fine and dandy but I turned 50 into 5k once on a quiet Tuesday years back, so the grind believers got a leg to stand on too π still, nice to hear the cage moves quick at McPhillips, nothing worse than a line at midnight with a pocketful of tickets and the van running cold outside.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Max, the ticket thing is exactly what VancouverLocal said, I was confused too first time π
and HalifaxNorth I believe you, one lucky Tuesday proves nothing lol

Funny how every Tuesday grinder story gets dusted off the second somebody mentions a quiet cage π I've had my own miracle nights, sure, but the floor being busy without feeling sardined and no line at midnight is the part I actually care about. The old slots hit different on a Saturday crowd, that's for sure.

I was sweating my first ever cage cashout there too so the no-line-at-midnight bit genuinely relaxes me π
What sold me on McPhillips was the spacing between machines, you can actually breathe while you spin instead of elbows everywhere like some floors. Budgeting my next trip around that π
Learning to clear wagering, go easy π
Busy floor with breathing room and a dead cage at midnight, sure, but a spot can feel comfy and still leave your pockets light, no? My best Saturday nights happened on floors that were packed tighter than a rush-hour bus π I'll take your word on the spacing though, next drive west I might see for myself.

The notion that a packed floor translates to better odds is just wishful thinking. While it sounds fun, all those loud, crowded machines just mean the house is running its numbers faster. So where's the profit on those crazy Saturday nights anyway? πΈ Did you even withdraw what you thought was your win?
Newbie here so take it easy on me π
but breathing room between machines matters a lot, I hate bumping elbows mid-spin. Quick midnight cage sounds great too, is parking decent there?

First cashout of my life happened at a cage like that and I still remember how shaky my hands were π
so yeah, the no-line-at-midnight bit is the real selling point for me too. Add in the elbow room between machines and McPhillips sounds like my kind of Saturday. Parking I can't speak to, never driven there myself, but I'm keen to read what the locals say π
