Finally walked into Gateway Casino on my BC trip
Haven't made it there myself yet, been meaning to check the floor out one of these weekends π° Curious about the table pit though. A big BC venue group running a thin pit sounds off, would've figured they'd stack the weekend nights. Did the cage cashout feel quick at least? π
Asking dumb bonus questions β that's the job.
Cage was quick, walked up, got my cheque in cash form, no drama. The pit though, thin even on a Saturday, half the tables looked dead and nobody hurrying to open more. For a venue group this size in BC that's the part I'd question, lobby's pretty but the floor is what pays the rent. Go on a weeknight first before you build it up.

thin pit on a saturday, that rings a bell π turned a small buy-in into a decent night at one of their floors years back, but half the fun was the crowd around the tables, hard to rustle that up when the pit's half dead. cage always treated me right though, walk up, cash in hand, no song and dance. give it a friday late instead of a weekend afternoon, might catch the floor with its working clothes on.
Busted more than you've deposited π
Sorry if this is a dumb one π but what do you mean the "pit" - that's just the table area, right? Feels like the whole floor's tables live there or am I mixed up π
Learning to clear wagering, go easy π
you got it mostly right, kid. the pit is the sunken area where the dealer tables cluster - blackjack, roulette, all that. dealers rotate through their stations inside it, and a "thin pit" just means fewer tables running and fewer staff around them. back in my day the pits hummed every saturday night, tables packed shoulder to shoulder π
on this BC venue of ours it tracks with what the others said. Half the tables dark even on a weekend, nobody rushing to open more. funny thing though, a quiet pit suits the old-school grind: turned 50 into a few hundred once at a half-empty blackjack table because the dealer wasn't rushing anyone. so thin can cut both ways, depends what you're there for π
I remember the old slots first-hand.
BankrollHunter summed it up well, and GrinderSpin gave the right definition for DiceLordHunter. My only caveat is that a thin pit and a quick cage often travel together for the same reason: the floor is sized for steady weekday traffic, so on a quiet Saturday nobody scrambles to open tables, while the cage runs lean but efficiently. I keep a volatility sheet for my slots sessions out of habit, and I noticed the same pattern at their floor when I went. Plenty of machines running, pit half asleep. RTP is long-run, but crowd energy pays for itself in a single evening.
Volatility > vibes.
Cage paying fast is the only metric I trust anyway, show me the cashout line moving and I'll believe the hype. Thin pit on a weekend though, that'd sour me too.
Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
Man, gotta get that fast payout, but when the machines are PAYING, the pit is irrelevant! π₯π°π€
Backing my slot to the last spin.
Newbie question incoming π
, if the pit is thin, do the tables that ARE open have higher minimums? Feels like that'd be the real dealbreaker for me π

@MaxBetLife247 I totally agree about the cage paying fast! π
Like, how do I even know if their withdrawal time is legit? π₯

Yeah when the pit's thin the open tables always bump minimums up π saw that plenty out west. Cage speed matters most tho, fast payout = good night in my book π°π°
