Nice writeup, cheers for sharing 🙌 I only ever dropped cash at a cage once myself and honestly had no checklist, just vibes lol. Did you find the floor staff explained anything about comps or is that stuff you gotta figure out on your own? Asking for me, total newbie here 😅
Asking dumb bonus questions — that's the job.

Back in my Monro days the comps question used to eat half my session every time 😄 honestly, ask a floor host directly, they'll usually walk you through it if you're polite and actually playing. I turned 50 into 5k once at a place like that and the comps were the last thing on my mind till the end, so don't overthink it on your first visits. Just watch how the regulars do it.
I remember the old slots first-hand.

Comps?? 😅 okay that word keeps coming up and I genuinely don't get how they work, like do you have to sign up for something with the host or does the machine track it once you're playing? Also dumb follow-up: do comps only apply if you use a players card thing? Still learning all this, sorry lol 🙏
Learning to clear wagering, go easy 🙏

Comp points, eh. You get a players card from the desk, slot it into the machine, and it tracks everything you play, comps are basically freebies the casino hands back based on that play, like a free meal or a few bucks off. Cost you nothing to sign up, so always grab the card before you spin 😄 turned a 50 dollar session into a decent steak dinner once just by having the thing in the machine.

Gramps nailed it, card in the machine, that's the whole trick. Only caveat I'd add: the card tracks your play for THEIR benefit, don't confuse comps with anything you're owed. I got a coffee voucher out of a whole evening at the cage once, so manage expectations lol.

Card's also how my favourite slot remembers me, went back two weekends apart and my play was still sitting there 🤑 coffee voucher lady is right though, freebies come slow lol 🔥🎰
Backing my slot to the last spin.

This thread is honestly helping me, still learning bonuses and all that 😅 So the card tracks your play even if you're depositing cash at the cage? Asking before I look silly at the desk next weekend 🙏
New here, soaking it up.

@BigWin_Max yeah the card logs everything, cash or not. Josh is right. Nobody at the desk will laugh at you though, they've heard way dumber questions than that 😂 Real question tho: what are you expecting out of this card? Comps take forever, ask LuckyLady about her coffee voucher lmao. The house tracks your play so they know exactly what you're worth to them. You're not getting a cut of that, you're getting crumbs. Ask yourself before you slide that C$ in: did the last guy raving about his "bonus" even withdraw anything? 🤡 Just go in with a set amount you're fine kissing goodbye, and the card becomes whatever. Free coffee's still coffee I guess 😏

@BigWin_Max nobody at the cage will blink, don't sweat it. Card tracks everything once it's in the machine, cash deposit or not. That's exactly how I do my sessions too. Toss in C$100 at the desk, card slotted, play gets logged same as any e-wallet funding. One tip from me though: whatever bonus hunting or points chasing you're doing with that card, set your session cap BEFORE you walk on the floor. I watched a guy last month blow through a C$400 bankroll chasing a tier bump he didn't need. Cashed out my last hit at the right time and it made the whole trip 💸 Better to walk with something than donate it to the coffee voucher crowd 😂
Cashing out in time is half the battle.

@NearMissEnjoyer same setup here, cage deposit then card in and everything's logged 💸 Only thing I'd add: ask what the points actually convert to before you grind a card, some places the comps are borderline insulting. Cleared a C$300 session once and got a coffee voucher out of it, still salty 😭
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.

BigWin_Max, yep, card tracks everything you play regardless of how you fund the session. Cash at the cage counts the same once it's in the machine with the card slotted. That's the whole point of it, they want the play logged either way. My two cents for your first trip: ask at the desk how their comps actually convert before you commit a big deposit. Some places it's decent value, some it's LuckyLady's coffee voucher territory lol. I treat comps as a small rebate on the action, never as part of the bankroll I'm playing with, that stays separate and the wagering clears on its own schedule. If the freebies come slow, fine, but the session hitting is what pays the bills 💸🎰
Cashing out in time is half the battle.

@BigWin77 yesss that's the best part honestly, slot remembering your play two weekends later feels like coming home 😂 mine does the same, my all-time favourite keeps the last session saved and I'm on it every evening when I get off shift. freebies being slow is real tho but honestly I don't care lol, I'm there to hit not to sip coffee. landed a nice one last month, like C$1,400 off a bonus round and still grinning about it 🤑🔥 ppl whining about comps are playing the wrong game imo
The hit is close, I can feel it.

@Rtp96Pro the "coming home" thing cuts both ways though, and I'd flag that for you. That saved session is convenient, sure, but it also makes it dangerously easy to auto-pilot into the same game every evening. I track my RTP and volatility per slot on a spreadsheet, and my evening-only routine games always look worse on paper than the ones I rotate into. Familiarity feels like an edge but it does nothing for the math. The machine doesn't warm up to you. Also, quick question since you're there every night: are you logging your deposits versus withdrawals, even roughly? Most people's gut feeling about how they're doing is off by a wide margin. My wife thought I was nuts too until I showed her the sheet, now she just thinks I'm a different flavour of nuts, but at least it's an informed kind. 📊

Ben_Reels that coffee voucher story is rough 😅 total noob here but that's good to know before I chase points anywhere. Do you ask before depositing or mid-session?

@DaveRTP before, always before, ideally in writing or at least from someone who isn't on commission. YYC is right that once the cage has your money the answers get vague. Same instinct I use for slots: the posted figure is long-run, and your one visit is a tiny sample, so if the comp rate is garbage the EV is negative no matter how good the session feels. Ask for the points-to-dollar conversion up front and do the math on a typical C$300 night before you commit.
Volatility > vibes.

@DaveRTP before, always. I got burned once grinding a card for a month, cashed out jack squat worth of perks 😭 ask the cage in writing, screenshot everything 💸

@DaveRTP ask before you even deposit, mate, once the cage has your C$300 the answer magically becomes "terms vary" 😏 you'll grind a card for a month and walk out with a coffee voucher and a receipt. and here's the real checklist question nobody asks: when you finally hit, but did they let you withdraw? the house always wins 🤡💸
