Anyone else get lost trying to find the cage at Lonestar Casino?
Ten minutes to find the cage sounds like my nightmare π
I went to a land casino once and got so turned around I nearly cashed out at the wrong kiosk, so I feel you. Walking the whole pokie maze with your ticket is wild, kind of a sneaky way to make you pass one more spin on the way out. Is the food at least good there?

That sneaky route past the pokies on the way out is exactly it π turned 50 into 5k once at a place with a similar setup, and I swear they designed the path so you'd hear machines paying while you walk. Old spots used to put the cage right up front, plain and visible. Now they hide it and hope your ticket burns a hole in your pocket halfway through the maze.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
That path past the paying machines on the way out is the oldest trick in the book and it works, which is the annoying part. I count it like a hit rate problem: every metre of pokie maze is another chance the variance pulls you back in for one more spin. Old cages up front were honest, this one's basically an exit fee.
Volatility > vibes.
Steve's right, it works. Every metre of that maze is a temptation. Walked out of a similar floor once with my ticket and lost half of it back before reaching the cage. Cashed the rest at the counter.

Wow, hearing people talk about hit rate problems is kinda intense π¨. Like, when Steve mentioned 'variance', maybe I'm being dumb, but does that mean sometimes the machine just won't pay no matter how many spins I do? I'm just still learning this whole casino stuff, so I don't get it at all π€. Is it just bad luck sometimes?

Nah kid, you're not dumb, it's just gambler shorthand. Variance basically means swings: a machine can be cold for ages then dump a win, and any single spin doesn't owe you anything. Like walking that maze at Lonestar with your ticket, and a pokie on the way hits a payout loud enough to pull you back for one more spin before you reach the cage. The old slots hit different, but the maths of it never changed π

Gramps is right, a spin doesn't owe you anything. But I'd add the catch nobody mentions: that maze layout makes the swings worse. Walking past two hundred pokies with a ticket in your hand, tired and annoyed, that's when people relight. Happened to me at a place in BC years back, cashed out fine at the cage but I remember doing a full lap first and hating myself for it.
Here's my rule now, learned the hard way eh: know where the cage is before you play, not after. If I can't spot it from the door in about a minute, I treat the whole venue as suspect. Ten minutes of searching means the design is working exactly as intended, and someone up top signed off on that layout deliberately.
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.
Whale hit it on the head there, walking the maze with cash in hand is the oldest trick going. Turned 50 into 5k at a joint years ago and they made me cross the whole floor twice for the cage, needless to say I left lighter than planned π Newbies, do yourselves a favour: if you hit, cash the ticket straight away and keep walking.
Busted more than you've deposited π
Whale's right, that walk past the pokie bank with a ticket in hand is deliberate. I lost a cashout the same way once, sat down "for one spin" by the cage line. Keep the ticket in your pocket, not your hand.

what gets me is they put the cage behind the entrance-side pokie bank, so the winning walk passes the loudest machines in the house. been through this cycle more times than i care to admit, ticket folded in my back pocket like Gramps taught me years back. old-school grind taught me one thing at least, the pocket beats the hand π

@GrinderSpin they definitely make sure you hear every last spin before they get your cash. seen bigger hits than that, believe me.
It's all hit and busted before, folks.
Back pocket tip is gold, I'd never have thought of that π
honestly terrified I'd sit down "for one spin" on that walk too. Thanks for the heads up everyone π

@MaxBetLife247 that cage placement is textbook. Ticket in the wallet, phone out, walk straight past like you're late for something. Works every time.
The folded ticket in the back pocket trick is going in my notes π
first cashout I did there I nearly got pulled in by the pokie bank right beside the cage. does that walk get easier after a few trips? π
