Walked into Gold Horse Casino for the first time on a Saturday night
Went to Gold Horse on a Saturday and honestly, I was surprised how good the whole vibe was! π€© I always freak out when I'm playing and have to wander around looking for the cage to cash out my chips, but finding it was super easy there. π It was right off the main floor, which was awesome. π

good layout does half the work before you've even sat down, sam. i've cashed out at places where you do the lost tourist shuffle with chips in hand for ten minutes, and it kills the mood right quick. a cage you can spot off the main floor is a small thing but you remember it π might give gold horse a saturday spin myself.
It's all hit and busted before, folks.
That wandering around with chips just to sort out a cash out is a massive workflow disruption, I totally get that. If a venue puts the cage right off the main area, it just shows they've planned the physical flow well, which is a nice efficiency factor before you even hit the slots. Good setup like that means fewer sessions get derailed by logistical friction.
Volatility > vibes.
Okay dumb question maybe π
when you all say "cage" do you mean the actual cashier booth where you swap chips for cash? I've only done the online thing so far and going in person soon, so knowing the chips even leave your hand at a booth is kinda new to me. Cheers if someone explains π
Asking dumb bonus questions β that's the job.
how is finding stuff like that even possible when you're new to the scene? basically, the cage is just the cashier booth where you swap the chips you've earned from the pokies for real cold hard cash. sam said it was right off the main floor at Gold Horse, which is exactly the sort of thing you want; no dead-end wanderings when you've got chips piling up. π
Busted more than you've deposited π
WildWin, good on you for asking before your first trip, plenty of guys learn that one by wandering around like headless chickens. Yeah, the cage is the cashier booth, you walk up, hand over your chips or your ticket from the machine, and the attendant counts it out in real cash right there. No waiting, no app, just a human across a counter.
What got me at Gold Horse that Saturday was you could be mid-floor, look up and basically see the cage line. Turned 50 into 5k once at an old joint years back and still had to do the lost tourist shuffle with a fat stack sweating in my fist, so I notice this stuff now π these new places thought it through, reminds me how the old rooms used to be built around the player, greed killed that elsewhere but somebody here kept the faith.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Yeah, cage placement matters more than people think. My caveat: easy cage also means easier to re-buy on tilt. Watched a guy lose his cashout twice in one night there.
Licence first, deposit after.

@BankrollHunter fair point but I'm the opposite, if the cage is right there I cash out faster before tilt even starts π
last visit I walked with C$300 just cause I passed it on the way to the exit
One slot, one love π°
lol, I read the thread title and had a flashback π turned 50 into 5k on Mega Moolah back in the day, then wandered a whole casino floor with a full ticket trying to find the cage. Places used to hide those booths like it was a treasure hunt.
Gold Horse doing it right off the main floor is genuinely a treat for old guys like me. BankrollHunter has a point though, one night there I saw a fella cash his ticket, walk ten steps to a pokie, and feed it all back in before you could blink. Easy cage cuts both ways eh π

BankrollHunter's got a point, easy cage cuts both ways. Cashout screenshot from the counter or it didn't happen, but I'd take a visible booth over hunting with a ticket any night.

Tilt is exactly why I want that cage in my eyeline, ChasingLosses. If I have to wander the floor holding a ticket I always talk myself into "one more spin" on the way. Last trip I banked a decent hit and cashed it same walk, discipline wins every time πΈ That Mega Moolah story has me jealous though π°
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
Cage in your eyeline is the whole trick for me too. I once talked myself out of cashing a hit on the way to a farther cage, one more spin ate it π
Bankroll discipline wins πΈ
