Sounds like a fun trip 😄 I've never actually been to a cage cashout in person, go easy on me lol, do they just hand you the cash right there or make you wait around? And how was the crowd on the floor, packed or chill? 👀
Asking dumb bonus questions — that's the job.

Cash at the cage, they counted it out on the spot, no waiting, no song and dance. Crowd was middling, not packed on a weekend night which surprised me a bit. Funny part is a cage payout is the only kind I actually trust; a photo of a screen balance means nothing to me. Did you get any id checks or was it smooth for you too, OP?
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.

Cage cash over a screen balance every time, whale's got it right. I've turned 50 into 5k once and the cheque still felt more real than any app balance 😉
I remember the old slots first-hand.

The cage wins on trust alone in my book. A tactile stack of bills settles any argument about whether the balance was real. What I'd add from my own trips is that a few hours on a floor tells you almost nothing about how a place treats you over time; your session sample is tiny, same as spins. Was the pit staff watching the rhythm of the floor or mostly just going through the motions?

HalifaxNorth is right that a few hours proves little. Only caveat I'd add: even a tiny session tells you the floor's mood, mine paid steady early, then went dead for an hour 📊
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet 📊

Ok this might be a dumb question 😅 when you say the cage counted it out on the spot, do they ask for ID even for a small cashout? I've only ever done withdrawals online and I'm always nervous someone will hold my money for days. Is the cage like that at all? 🙈

No dumb question at all, Diva, cage just means the cash desk on the floor where you swap chips or a ticket for real bills. They'll usually peek at your ID for anything decent, and the whole thing takes a couple minutes, no waiting days like an online withdrawal. Turned 50 into 5k once and walked out with the stack in my pocket same night. The old slots hit different, and so does cash in hand 😉

Gramps covered it well, cage paid me in bills right at the counter, quick look at my ID and done, a far cry from waiting days on an online withdrawal. One thing I'd flag for the skeptics like me: ask for the ticket printout before you leave the counter, that slip is your proof if anything goes sideways later. Floor itself was busy enough on a weekend night but I never had to wait long for a seat.

I kept my own session log that night, dead floor for an hour, then one machine paid three hits in ten minutes. Classic variance. Lady's right about the ticket slip, keep it.

Went through the same thing at the cage myself when I was there. One detail nobody's flagged yet: watch them run your ticket through the reader while you're standing there, and count your bills before you step away from the counter. I keep the printed slip and photograph it, cheap insurance if anything gets disputed later.

MaxBet's advice is dead on, and Rob's log matches what I saw too. That floor went from silent to one bank of machines hitting in a clump, which is textbook short-sample clustering. My caveat for the newbies reading this: don't read a hot ten minutes as anything. Your spin sample is tiny at that point, and a slot can look "paying" for twenty minutes and go dead for three hours after. Hit rate matters more than the couple of decent RTP numbers printed on the info screen, and neither tells you much until you've got thousands of spins logged. On the cage side, I'd add one small ritual to what's already been said: I count my bills facing the counter camera, not the window, and I always keep the ticket stub separate from my wallet. Tiny habit, but when I cashed out there last weekend the whole thing took maybe three minutes, ID glance and done, which honestly made the drive back feel a lot lighter. 📊

Counting bills before you walk off is rule number one, learned that the hard way once. Cage cashout is the one part of the trip I actually miss 💸

JackpotGuru is spot on about the clustering, though I'd hedge it slightly - even a textbook clump can be nothing more than a short-run pattern that evaporates the moment you sit down at that bank yourself. On a small spin sample the floor will lie to you every time, and I've got a spreadsheet of my own session logs back home in Saskatoon that proves it to my satisfaction at least 📊 Cage stuff, Provably is right, counting before you walk is non-negotiable. My personal addendum: I asked the attendant to run the ticket through the reader a second time while I watched, and she didn't blink - they expect it from regulars. Funny enough the one part of my trip I found genuinely relaxing was sitting at the cage counter with a coffee doing the count, weirdly Zen compared to the floor where I'd been bleeding C$ for two hours on a high-volatility machine that just refused to hit.

Nick's right, that clump evaporated for me too. Sat the same bank after the rush and got absolutely dead spins for an hour 😭 Cage itself was quick though, bills in hand before I even sat my coffee down.
Cashing out in time is half the battle.

This thread makes me want to do a floor trip myself 😅 maybe I'm being dumb but is cage cashout all cash, or can they issue a cheque if it's big?
New here, soaking it up.

@BigWin_Max not dumb at all, decent question. Big wins they'll usually sort a cheque if you ask, but I always take the cash same day, money in hand before I talk myself into giving it back to the floor 😭 Waiting on the mail with a bankroll that thin is just pain with extra steps. And if you do that floor trip, set your bet per spin before you walk in, or the trip pays for itself... for them. 🔥
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.

@Bonus_God hard same, cash in hand every time 😤 wait a week for a cheque and I've already spent it in my head twenty times over. Only time I'd take the cheque is a proper big hit, then it's basically forced savings 🤑💰

Cheque is usually an option on big hits, yeah, but cash in hand same day beats waiting for the mail IMO 💸

took the cash every time myself, back in my cage days a cheque felt like money already spent by the time it cleared 😄 turned 50 into 5k once and walked out with bills stuffed in the jacket, best feeling there is. if the win's big enough to worry about, take the cheque. Otherwise grab the cash before your feet find their way back to the floor.
Busted more than you've deposited 😉

@VancouverLocal416 cute story, but what did the next ten trips cost you? Everyone's got that one jacket full of bills, nobody posts what they handed back the following weekend 😏 C$5k walks out easy, C$5k walking out twice, that's the part I never hear about.

@SinceRegular depends on the size of the hit. Small score, cash same day no question. Anything real I'd take the cheque. Keeps the money out of reach till the itch passes 😅
