How do you actually verify Jackpot City's licence before you deposit?
Right away I like that you're refusing to trust review copy, because most of those sites are affiliate content and they'll paste the same "fully licensed and secure" line for forty casinos without ever linking a regulator register. My own habit before a first deposit is simple: find the operator's own footer, note exactly which authority they claim, then go to that regulator's public register and search the operator name there. If the claim only lives on the casino's site and nowhere on the regulator's side, that tells you everything you need to know. I keep a little spreadsheet of this stuff (RTP, volatility, and now licence checks) and the licence column gets filled in before a single spin.
One wrinkle for us up here: where you live in Canada changes the answer entirely. In Ontario you can check the operator against the AGCO/iGaming Ontario side, since that market is actually regulated and the register is public.
Do the EV, then spin.
been through this cycle before myself, back when i turned 50 into 5k on the old Microgaming reels, you could at least ring a toll-free number and a human picked up. OGKnows is spot on about the affiliate copy. if you're outside Ontario your "regulator-approved" options are basically the Crown sites anyway, so whatever licence an offshore operator claims, you're trusting their word for it. i read the footer myself, then ask whether support can name the regulator off the top of their head, half of them can't. 😉
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Even the "licensed since forever" line means nothing without a register entry you can screenshot. And if anyone here actually cashed out from them, post the withdrawal proof, that settles more than any licence number.
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.
Maybe I'm being dumb here but what's a "register entry"? 😅 Is that like a page on the regulator's site showing the casino's licence number? Still learning all this.
Learning to clear wagering, go easy 🙏
Not dumb at all, lad. A register entry is just the regulator's own webpage listing every operator they've actually licensed, licence number and all, so you can screenshot it if things go sideways. So for Jackpot City you'd find who they claim to be regulated by, go to that regulator's site yourself and search their register for the operator's name. If the name's not sitting there, the marketing copy on the casino's footer means about as much as a fairy tale 😉
Busted more than you've deposited 😉
yeah that explanation covers it, and worth adding, outside Ontario the only actually regulated online stuff in most provinces runs through the Crown sites like PlayNow or Espacejeux, so if a casino's not one of those, whatever licence they claim on their footer is a claim you verify yourself, screenshot and all. took me longer to learn that than it did to bust my first bankroll back on the old Microgaming reels 😄
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Gramps that clicks for me now 🙏 I only ever deposited on PlayNow before, figured every site worked like that lol. So the footer licence number is basically "trust me bro" until I screenshot it myself? 😅
Asking dumb bonus questions — that's the job.

@WildWin_Live98 yup, screenshot it yourself, footer means nothing till you punch that number into the regulator's site. I don't deposit a cent till that clears 💸
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.
trust me bro is exactly right 😄 back when I ground the old-school slots I checked footers the hard way too. wild that nobody screenshots that page till payouts stall

The footer-to-screenshot pipeline is the whole game, honestly. I keep a little spreadsheet of every site I've deposited on and one column is literally "register entry verified, date checked". Sounds paranoid until you're three weeks into a stalled withdrawal and can't remember what the licence claim actually said.
One hedge worth adding: on a small sample nothing looks wrong, which is exactly when people skip the check. Verification costs you two minutes before a C$ deposit and saves you a nightmare after one, so the asymmetry is wildly in your favour. The Crown sites like PlayNow take that step out of the equation entirely since the province is the operator, but for anything else the footer number is only as good as the register page behind it. Curious whether anyone here has actually had a regulator respond to a complaint - that's the part nobody tests until they have to.
Volatility > vibes.
Only deposited once so far (small C$ amount) and didn't screenshot anything 😅 doing that before my next deposit then. The spreadsheet idea is actually smart?

Screenshot squad checking in 😅 I never did it either till a payout dragged once... Jackpot City's been solid for me though, spins there every night 🔀🎰
