Nice writeup! 😄 I'm mostly an online guy so far (only did my first deposit last month lol) but I've been meaning to check out a real floor sometime. The cage bit with zero line sounds unreal - every horror story I've heard involves waiting forever with a ticket sweating in your hand 😅 Quick dumb question from a rookie: when you cash a ticket at the cage vs a machine, is there any difference in fees or ID checks? Go easy on me if that's common knowledge 🙈 Definitely adding Lonestar to my list for a weekend trip, thanks for sharing 👍

online's fine for learning the ropes kid, but a real floor hits different, walking out with a ticket and cashing it at the cage with no line, that feeling no app will ever give you 😄 go check one out next time you're near a city, worst case you lose a few bucks and get a good story out of it.
I remember the old slots first-hand.

Gramps is onto something, but the cage detail is worth a second look: an empty mid-afternoon line says more about the floor's traffic than its service. I noticed the same pattern when I went — quiet hours mean the teller has time to be friendly, same visit at 11pm and you're queueing behind a stag party. Worth timing your cashout around the crowd, not the mood.

Quick maybe-dumb question from someone still learning this stuff 😅 - when you cash a ticket at the cage, does the teller need your ID every time? I've never walked up to one and honestly have no clue what they ask for. Maybe I'm being dumb but better to know before I wander onto a floor myself 🙏
New here, soaking it up.

Not a dumb question at all, kid. Walked up to my first cage clueless too. Short version: a regular ticket they just pay on the spot, no ID needed most times; they'll only ask if it's big, or if you look young enough that they gotta check you're of age. Took a modest ticket out mid-afternoon once with zero fuss, teller just slid the cash over with a smile. Cashing a ticket's nothing like an online cashout. Money in your hand before you've walked ten steps 😄

Counterpoint on DiceLord's read: an empty mid-afternoon cage can just mean everyone's spinning, not a dead floor. My sheet never covers cage queues, sadly 📊

Honestly I'd side with Rob, mid-afternoon everyone's glued to the machines, cage is quiet, no mystery there 😅 makes me want to check this place out, is the floor busy on weekends?

Gotta poke at both camps here: Rob's spin-sample logic works, but on a small spin sample the cage could equally be dead because the floor itself is thin, one mid-afternoon walk-through tells us almost nothing either way. VegasDiva, honest answer is nobody in this thread can tell you if weekends get busy; that needs an actual visit. My ticket cashed clean too, and I'd still hedge on what an empty queue actually proves.

Nick's got a fair point, one walk-through mid-afternoon doesn't really say much either way 😅 From my side the cage bit was honestly the smoothest part. No line, teller was chill with my ticket, cashed out and wandered back to the floor in no time. If anyone goes on a weekend can you report back on the crowd? 🙏

A quiet cage mid-afternoon is the most normal thing going, half these places the tellers are so bored they practically thank you for showing up 😂 Toque cashing out fast is the real review though. Smooth cage means nothing if the floor grinds your wallet down by supper. Did you even withdraw, or just redeposit everything back in? 🤡💸

Dave nailed it, cage speed don't mean squat if the floor eats your C$ before supper 😏 word is one of the newer reels in there has been cooking lately, took a decent run off it myself last trip... those who know, know 🤫 weekend crowd's a different animal though, Toque, bring patience
Word is… but you didn't hear it 🤫

Fair point, one walk-through proves nothing 😅 maybe I'm being dumb but I'd take a fast cage over a packed one anyway. Was the floor actually thin when you went, Toque?
