Went to Mohawk myself a few months back and those entrance machines got me too 😅 quick C$20 gone before I even found the cage. Saturday crowd is wild though, regulars camped on their stools like they own the spot, me just wandering around lost lol. Anyone know if the tables are more forgiving than the pokies there? Thinking about giving it a second shot 🎰

The entrance machines exist to fleece you before you get your bearings, that's their whole job. Regulars camp on their stools because they already know which corners pay and which ones just chirp. I'd give it one more visit, play deeper into the floor, and judge the place by whether you actually walk to the cage with something in hand.

turned 50 into 5k once on an entrance bank of slots, so I never blame the carpet for my loonies 😄 walk past the chirpers first, find the cage, then pick your stool like the regulars do.
Busted more than you've deposited 😉

VancouverLocal416 has the right instinct, honestly. The entrance bank gets its traffic from a location advantage, and your single visit says nothing about whether those machines are looser or tighter than the rest of the floor. Sample size is brutal here: twenty minutes of spins is noise, and with high-volatility titles you can flatline for a session and still be playing at a fair long-run rate. I keep a rough log of my sessions at the place near me, and the variance between visits dwarfs any difference between banks of machines. Where I'd push back slightly on RTPTracker: nobody outside the operator knows the actual payback on any given stool, so "which corners pay" is mostly regulars remembering their wins and forgetting their losses. Classic survivorship bias. My advice for a return trip: walk in, find the cage first like you said, then pick a machine in the middle of the floor, set a hard stop in C$ before you sit, and judge the venue over three or four visits, not one Saturday.

Ha, I've seen a hundred newbies blame the entrance bank over the years - those machines have been chirping loonies out of pockets since before half this forum was born 😄 The regulars with their claimed stools know something: it's a whole floor, not one bank of chirpers. Walk past the front, cash out at the cage if you must, then go find a stool that pays. The old slots hit different, but they were never near the door either.
I remember the old slots first-hand.

Okay dumb question time 😅 when you all say "looser" or "tighter" machines. Does that actually mean some slots pay more than others, or is that just casino folklore? 🙈

Good question kid, and no it's not just folklore 😄 every machine is set with a payback level, so some genuinely return more over the long haul than others. Problem is the casino never posts it, so "loose" mostly means "one that happened to be paying when I walked by." Story time: turned 50 into 5k once on a bank nobody was touching, back corner, old-school grind for hours. Same night watched a fella dump a couple hundred C$ on the entrance chirpers at Mohawk and get nothing but flashing lights. Walk the whole floor like GrampsAllDay says, watch which stools the regulars guard, then plant yourself. And patience, kid, the ones that used to pay hit different, but a patient player still beats a tourist wandering around lost every time 😉
Been grinding longer than some have played.

Hmm, so if the machines each have their own payback setting, does the casino rotate them around the floor or are the good ones always in the same spot? Asking because I'm planning a second trip to Mohawk and I'd rather not feed the same entrance chirpers twice 😬

ah Dave, you're planning a second trip already and still hunting for the "good spots". That's how they get ya 😄 turned C$50 into C$5k on an old-school grind machine once, in a corner nobody even looked at. nobody at Mohawk's gonna tell you where the payers sit, they don't rotate them like a milk truck, and honestly half the regulars guarding their stools are down more than you. just walk the whole floor and let the chirpers sing to somebody else for a night.

The corner machine story gives me hope 😅 I got humbled right at the door too, maybe the quiet ones away from the crowd are where it's at? 🙈

funny how every vet here found their machine in a corner nobody touched 😄 the floor doesn't hide loose slots, fellas, it just remembers who sat where. entrance machines eating loonies? that's the toll, always was.

Maybe I'm being dumb but the entrance ones are basically the toll, right? 😅 My first Mohawk trip died the same way. Next time I'm starting deep in the room.

Corner stools being "loose" feels like luck superstition to me 😅 I lost my C$20 just as fast in the back rows Saturday. Maybe it's just which machine happens to be hot that night?

Honestly I think RngGod might be right, I hit the back rows Saturday and got chewed up there too 😅 Still had fun watching the regulars camp their stools like it's a reserved parking spot. Does anyone know if the cage gets busy on weekends or is cashing out quick? Asking for next visit 🙏
