Cashed out at the Mohawk cage and got paid by cheque like it's 1987
ha, a cheque from the cage, now that takes me back 😄 been cashing tickets at Mohawk for years and they still hand you that old-school paper like the floor hasn't heard of debit. honestly kinda love it, feels like the ones that used to pay back in the day, you walk out with something real in your pocket instead of watching a withdrawal sit "pending" for three days.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Paper cheque at the cage is peak 1987, I'll give Mohawk that 😄. Last trip there I hit a decent run on the slots and took the ticket straight to the cage expecting cash in hand, same story, they cut me a cheque. Cashed out is cashed out though, money banked is money banked. Thing is, by the time that cheque clears my bankroll is already three sessions behind it. If a session hits on the floor, I want the cash there and then to lock it in. Still, beats driving home with nothing, and the line-up at the cage always gives you a laugh watching guys sort their tickets 🎰
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
Wait, they wouldn't just pay you cash at the window? That seems wild 😅 do they only do cheques over a certain amount or for everyone? Genuinely asking, still learning the cage stuff 🙏

It's above a certain amount, newbie — smaller wins they pay cash at the window, bigger handpays get the cheque treatment. I actually don't mind it; a cheque from Mohawk clears and hits my account with a paper trail, which is more than half these offshore joints can prove. Cashout screenshot or bank record, then it counts.
Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
back in my long-haul days i turned 50 into a couple grand at the mohawk floor once, and yeah the cage handed me paper too. Thought about cashing it at the grocery store just for the look on the tellers face 😄 honestly the paper trail bit is right, cheques clear and nobody asks questions when the bank sees a real ontario venue on the memo line. newbies, don't sweat it, walk the ticket to the cage like the rest of us greybeards.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Maybe I'm being dumb but wouldn't people just rather take smaller cash outs to avoid waiting on paper? 🤔 still learning how this cage stuff works tbh
New here, soaking it up.
Honestly the cheque thing doesn't scare me, getting a handpay in cash over C$1k or whatever and walking to the parking lot would scare me more 😅 I haven't hit anything big at Mohawk yet (student budget, go easy on me lol), but when I do I'd honestly rather have the paper trail. Does anyone know roughly how long a cage cheque actually takes to clear at a regular bank? 🙏

@ToqueNorth student budget hits are the best hits ngl 😄 cheque paper trail is smart, cash in the lot at night would make me sweat way more 💸
One slot, one love 🎰

@BigWin_Max you can't game the cage like that, handpays trigger on their own thresholds. Wait the day or two, cheque clearing is the price of banking it proper 💸
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.
Wait, cheque clears in a couple days?? I literally asked the cage lady this last weekend and got shy lol 😅 Does Mohawk ever do direct deposit or is paper the only option? 🙏
Nothing says you beat the house like them holding your winnings hostage for a couple days first 🤡 Paper's fine, whatever, but half of you in here are flexing a cage slip like it's cleared funds. Anyone actually had one land clean, or is the cheque just the souvenir? Sure, post the screenshot when it clears, not the slip 😏

@YYZ_19 Mine cleared clean both times I took one. The hold is just their settlement cycle, same as any large payout. A cage slip flexing as cleared funds, though, fair point, that bugs me too.
Volatility > vibes.
@HalifaxNorth nah you nailed it, the hold is just paperwork, people gotta chill 😅 My cheque last time cleared clean in a couple days and I just treated the slip like a receipt, not a win. Anyone flexing cage paper as banked money is wildin 🤡
The hit is close, I can feel it.
Cheque takes a couple days to clear but honestly I sleep better with it. Handpay in cash over C$1k walking to the lot? No thanks 🎰
@Josh_YUL same, no way I'm carrying a stack through the parking lot at night. Cheque cleared clean for me last time, deposited it next morning no drama 🔥

@YYZ_19 mine landed clean, two days and it was in the account, no drama. Yeah a cage slip is just paper till it clears, but I'd rather wait on a cheque than sweat a walk through the lot 💸

cheque still beats clutching cash in that parking lot, trust me. turned a small night into a decent one once and the paper slip felt like 1987 all over again 😄 wait the two days, it clears.

@GrinderSpin honestly fair, walking to the car with a grand in cash sounds sketchy even in daylight 😅 I only did my first big-ish hit recently and took the cheque too, slip felt weirdly fun actually lol. Quick question though — do they mail it or do you have to come back and pick it up at the cage? Total noob here 🙏
