Stake Casino in Canada - noticed something odd about my KYC
Not sure if I'm missing something here but I just went through KYC on Stake (I'm in Canada) and the flow felt... weird? Like it asked for my ID, then partway through it asked again for the same document but a different format, and the verification status kept flipping between pending and approved before it finally settled. Took me a couple tries and I genuinely thought my account got flagged for a sec 😅
This is my first real deposit anywhere so maybe that's just how it goes, but has anyone else in Canada hit this double-ask thing during verification? And do you have to redo the whole check when you actually cash out, or is it one and done? Go easy on me if it's a dumb question, still learning how all this works 🙏
Asking dumb bonus questions — that's the job.
ah kyc roulette, gotta love it 😉 did mine on stake a while back and got the same double-request for id docs, site does that when their checker can't read the scan cleanly apparently. had similar jumpy statuses verifying elsewhere years ago and it sorted itself out after waiting a few days instead of reuploading everything five times. give it a couple business days before panicking, eh
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Maybe I'm being dumb here but what does "double-request" mean exactly? They ask for the same ID twice and you just upload the same photo again? 😅 Thanks 🙏
Learning to clear wagering, go easy 🙏
nope, not dumb at all, easy to explain. double-request just means the site asked for the same document more than once, usually because their system couldn't read the first upload properly. blurry photo, glare on the ID, corner cut off, whatever. so it fires off a second ask, sometimes wanting the same doc in a different format like a pdf instead of a photo.
so yeah, you'd upload the ID again, just cleaner. tips from an old-timer who's uploaded more passports than he's had hot dinners: flat on a dark table, no flash, all four corners visible. took me three tries on one site back in the day before some checker finally approved me, felt like grinding an old netent slot for a bonus that never drops 😄. if the status keeps flipping pending/approved like wildwin said, that's usually just the system re-checking after each upload. annoying, harmless. give it a day or two before poking support.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
That pending-to-approved flipping happened to me too when I did mine a few weeks back 😅 I almost re-uploaded a third time out of panic before it settled on its own. The double-request thing Gramps mentioned makes sense, mine was a selfie video the first go that apparently didn't take. Guess I just have to be patient and let their checker work, even if it feels sketchy in the moment 🙏
New here, soaking it up.
Call me paranoid, but "the checker can't read the scan" feels a bit convenient when it asked for the same document twice in different formats, that smells like the verification vendor cycling providers mid-flow, at least on a small sample of my own two attempts. Did anyone else notice the pending status flip back and forth before approving, or was that just my account doing variance things? Curious whether the double-request hits everyone in Canada or only certain provinces.
Volatility > vibes.
Glare got my first one too, YYC 😅 took the photo near the window and the reviewer bounced it, redid it under a plain lamp and went through fine. NickHighRoller I get the suspicion but honestly my uploads looked like garbage the first time so "couldn't read it" tracks for me lol.
Been on Stake for ages and KYC was the only annoying part, everything after that's been smooth. Just don't panic re-upload a third time like Max said, that's when stuff gets tangled 🔥🎰
One slot, one love 🎰
Mine bounced once over a blurry passport scan and I figured it was just my terrible phone camera, honestly. Glare on the ID seems to be the usual culprit for most people. Keep your bankroll aside, don't panic-deposit while it's pending thinking it speeds things up, it doesn't 😅 did my selfie video in one take and it cleared fine.
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
Most of my KYC bounce stories from friends track back to simple image quality too, so I lean with DoubleDouble_87 here - glare and blur explain most of it. That said, NickHighRoller has a point worth noting: when a system asks for the same document twice in different formats, that does smell like a vendor handoff mid-flow rather than a reviewer squinting at your photo. I keep spreadsheets on everything else in this hobby, so naturally I logged my own verification attempt as well: one upload, approved without a resubmission, which honestly proves nothing at a sample size of one.
YYCLocal, practical tip since you're fresh through the process: flat lamp, no window light, all four corners visible, and let the camera autofocus settle before tapping. That combination has never failed anyone I've walked through it. If your ID went through first try, consider yourself ahead of the variance curve for once.

@RobRoller makes sense, my buddy had his rejected twice and both times it was a photo problem, not anything sketchy. I'm still new to all this so the repeated requests part worries me a bit 😬 but good to know it's usually just image quality. Hoping my first cashout goes smooth when I get there 🙏

@Grand_Win don't sweat it, the photo rejects are basically a rite of passage here 😂 I just snap mine on a table by the window in daylight, zero issues since. Stake's been my all-time favourite, this slot pays and when I hit a decent win the cashout just flowed 🎰🔥
One slot, one love 🎰
Did my KYC once, daylight by a window, cleared first try. ToqueNorth, they usually ask before your first cashout, so have the ID photos ready 💸
@ChasingLosses_Merchant "Rite of passage" is one way to dress up a casino rejecting your ID twice. Got a cashout screenshot from that "decent win", or just vibes? Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
@Victoria99 congrats on the C$400, but I'd pump the brakes on calling it "the bonus round kept paying". One hot session tells you almost nothing about a slot's behaviour. RTP is a lifetime average across millions of spin…
@LuckyLady_777 I sent the screenshot in that other thread last week, cheque's cleared in my account so vibes are covered 😅 KYC dragged on mine too, took a couple days longer than expected but nothing shady. Funny how every Stake thread turns into a trust debate, meanwhile I'm just over here managing my bankroll per spin 💸
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.
Glare got mine too lol, retaking it under a lamp sorted it out. Stake's been solid for me otherwise, no panic needed 🔥🎰
So glare is the villain here lol, good to know 🙏 I'm still working through my first wagering bonus and haven't even touched KYC yet, do they ask for it before your first cashout? 😅
Asking dumb bonus questions — that's the job.
Yeah image quality wrecks more KYC checks than anything lol, my buddy taped his ID to a white piece of paper and it went through first try after two rejects 😂 Stake's been solid for me otherwise, cashed out C$400 last month no drama... just don't rush the photos, take one clean shot under a lamp and you're golden 🔥🎰

@TurboGG lol the white paper trick is legendary, gonna steal that one 😂 Same here though, Stake cashed me out no drama and when that bonus round hit it just kept paying... C$400 club high five 🤑🔥

@Victoria99 congrats on the C$400, but I'd pump the brakes on calling it "the bonus round kept paying". One hot session tells you almost nothing about a slot's behaviour. RTP is a lifetime average across millions of spins, volatility decides the shape of your individual night. A high-volatility game can dump four hundred bucks on you in one feature and then eat deposits for weeks - the EV is still negative either way, it just gets there with different scenery.
What I actually track in my sheet is hit rate, because that's what shapes whether a session feels fun or brutal. Next time note the base game frequency between features, not just the win. If the bonus round triggers every couple hundred spins versus every couple thousand, that's the number worth bragging about, and your C$400 club membership means more with context behind it. 📊
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet 📊

@Victoria99 solid hit bro 👏 now the fun part. Go try withdrawing it again next month and watch the KYC gremlins crawl back out 🤡 Fresh C$400 lasts what, till Thursday? 💸😏
A paper win won't feed you.

"Rite of passage" is a cute way to spin getting your ID rejected twice 🤡 Did they even let you withdraw that win or did it vanish back into the slots? 😏

@LuckyLady_777 got my C$400 payout last week, no drama at all... some of us just get lucky, don't be salty 🤑🔥
Backing my slot to the last spin.
@VoidedWinVictim glad the cash landed clean, genuinely. Two caveats from my side though. First, one smooth withdrawal means very little statistically; your spin sample is tiny whether we're talking gameplay or processing times, so I wouldn't build any conclusions off a single data point either direction. Second, the variance here sits with the payment path itself, and that tends to correlate more with how quickly you submitted documents upfront than with anybody getting "picked".
I track turnaround times on every interaction myself, and what I see consistently is one uneventful verification followed weeks later by a second request once cumulative withdrawals cross whatever internal threshold their risk model uses. Nobody knows where those lines sit exactly because nobody outside compliance has seen them drawn.

@HalifaxNorth valid point, my whole gambling history is a sample size of one disaster 😂 every time I think the stats are turning my way, boom, donated to the casino again. Maybe one clean withdrawal is just the universe warming up before the curtains 🤣
Bank memes are therapy too.

@HalifaxNorth makes sense, my deposit was small so I figure my sample's tiny too 😅 my KYC also took a couple extra days. Did yours ask for extra docs out of nowhere?

@HalifaxNorth fair point on sample size, but I'll take one clean cashout over ten horror stories every time. Cleared a bonus there myself, funds hit fast 😤💸

KYC dragged on mine too but cash still hit my account, no drama 🔥 some of you lot just love a villain lol. Stake pays, that's all I care about 💰🎰
@BigWin77 lol mate "no drama" is doing heavy lifting there 😂 my KYC dragged so long I aged a full beard between requesting and paying out. Got asked for a selfie holding my ID like I was auditioning for a low-budget hostage video 🤣
Still got my C$ in the end so I can't fully hate, but let's not pretend waiting a week on hold is some smooth experience eh. The folks with the horror stories earned their doom posting, same way I earned mine. Bank's gone either way, I just like knowing the door's open when I want out 🍿

@Variance_PTSD the hostage selfie line killed me 😂 did the same hold-up-my-ID shot last year, felt ridiculous but it cleared in a day. My rule is just get the docs in before you even need a cashout, saved me the beard-growing wait. Bankroll sitting in pending review is the worst feeling there is 😭

Word is… but you didn't hear it 🤫

@SinceRegular same energy here, hit big on it last night and cashout landed quick, KYC didn't slow me down 🤑🎰 don't care what the doom posters say, my money showed up. cleared a bonus there too and funds were fast 💰🔥

@Variance_PTSD the hostage selfie bit got a laugh out of me, but honestly that's standard practice now, most offshore-facing operators want the ID held next to your face exactly for that reason. They're checking for doctored documents, not auditioning you.
Here's the variance nuance though: everyone in this thread saying "mine was fast" versus your week-long beard saga isn't proof of either. Verification speed has nothing to do with RTP or luck, it's queue depth and which document reviewer picked up your file. Same reason two players can each spin 500 rounds and walk away with completely different stories, your sample of one cashout tells you almost nothing. What actually matters is whether they pay eventually and whether the terms hold up, and by that measure you got your C$ in the end, which is the part worth recording. 📊
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet 📊
@DiceLord777 yeah makes sense tbh, the selfie thing felt dumb but it cleared fast for me too. Been on Stake every evening and my last cashout hit my account in no time, huge win ngl 😍🎰 All I do is upload my docs right after signup so I never wait on my C$
The hit is close, I can feel it.
Honestly the KYC panic is overblown imo 😅 I did the selfie thing too and felt like a clown but it cleared in like a day. Best move is just uploading everything right after signup - my cashouts land quick and I've never been stuck waiting on my C$ when a big hit comes in 🔥🎰

@SlotLive same playbook, docs in day one. turned 50 into 5k once at the old-school grind, would've wept waiting on that C$ in review 😄
Busted more than you've deposited 😉
huge win AND cashout in no time?? my man I heard those words in my own mouth once, then deposited the last of it lol 🤣
