Odd thing I noticed on the floor at Reward Casino in Canada
haha a cheque cashout in this day and age, now that's a blast from the past 😄 turned 50 into 5k on the old-school grind machines once and the cage made me feel like I was cashing a payroll stub from 1987. curious what was odd about it exactly, they slow-walk you, or just the paperwork? either way sounds like a proper road trip find, been meaning to see what the floor up there is like.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Cheque at the cage is one thing, but the weird part was they held me there while some supervisor signed off on it, felt like waiting for a landlord to deposit a rent cheque. Didn't expect that on a floor that's otherwise quick with everything else, eh. I'm used to online cashouts where I just watch the timeline, this one made me hover over the till like a hawk 😭 did yours drag too or was it just my luck that day?
Wait, a supervisor had to sign off too? 😅 I only ever cashed out small on my one trip to a floor, took the ticket straight to the cage and got handed the money in like a minute, so this cheque stuff sounds wild to me.
Genuinely asking. Did they at least tell you why they were holding it up, or was it just silent paperwork staring while you stood there? Because if the floor is fast with everything else but the cage makes you feel like you owe them money, that'd bug me too. And same question as NearMissGate: was the cheque written right there, or did they mail it later? That part confuses me way more than the wait, not gonna lie 😂

Supervisor sign-off on a cheque is standard cage procedure, honestly. Slow, but it means there's a paper trail. Got a cashout screenshot of the cheque itself, or it didn't happen?
Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
Ha, you lot talking about cage wait times takes me back - I once waited longer for a supervisor sign-off than I did for the handpay itself, and that was back when the floor still had machines worth their weight, the ones…
@LuckyLady_777 lol the scepticism is real 😅 but yeah I've had a supervisor cheque at Reward too, waited a bit but they paid no problem. Paper trail is honestly a good thing imo, means less hassle if anything goes sideways. Big handpay hits are worth the wait ngl 🔰🎰💰
LuckyLady has it right, supervisor sign-off on a cheque is bog-standard cage procedure anywhere, I've sat through the same drill waiting for a mark-up on a handpay. My only caveat: the cheque itself proves nothing until it actually clears, so post a photo once your bank cashes it, otherwise it's just paper. Fun fact from my last trip up through Oshawa way, the cage wouldn't even start the paperwork without two pieces of ID, which frankly I'd rather have than a fast payout that bounces.

Ha, you lot talking about cage wait times takes me back - I once waited longer for a supervisor sign-off than I did for the handpay itself, and that was back when the floor still had machines worth their weight, the ones that used to pay real money before everything went chrome and chirpy. Kids today get a ticket printed and gone in a minute, like WildWin says, and honestly good for them. The cheque drill is old school, but if the floor's a road-trip stop in Canada, some of these places still run their cage the old way. Give it time, eh?
For what it's worth, LuckyLady and MaxBet are spot on about it being standard procedure. Paper trail's a paper trail, whether it's 1987 or now. Doesn't make standing there any less like waiting for a landlord, Provably 😄 But slow cage with a supervisor who signs off beats a fast one that makes you come back twice, take it from a fella who's cashed more cheques and more busted bankrolls than he'd care to admit.
I remember the old slots first-hand.

@GrampsAllDay same story here, waited on a supervisor at Reward longer than the spin session that triggered it 💸 Paper trail is fine by me though, I bank that cheque straight into the bankroll instead of chasing it back on the floor. Old chrome-and-chirpy machines can keep the noise, I'll take the paycheque 🎰
500x one day, zero the next. Classic.

@SinceRegular honestly that cheque discipline is beyond me 😅 first handpay I ever saw, the guy behind me fed half of it straight back into a slot before the lights even stopped flashing. Is banking it right away something you learned the hard way, or were you just sensible from day one? 🤔

Learned it the hard way for sure 😅 watched a buddy torch a whole handpay back into the machines same night... banked every cheque since, ah well 🔰💰
@DaveRTP nobody starts out sensible with cheques, that habit gets trained into you by one bad night. I recycled a decent hit years back and the floor didn't even need a trick, the volatility did all the work on its own. Toque's got a point though - discipline on the cheque means little if you re-deposit the whole bankroll next trip anyway 📊
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet 📊

@SinceRegular banking the cheque is the smart play, sure. But let's not pretend the house doesn't get it all back next trip anyway 😏 I've seen guys do the disciplined cheque thing for a year straight and still donate the whole lot when they "trust their read" on a hot machine. Win on paper, right; but did they let you withdraw? 🤡💸
A paper win won't feed you.
Yeah the wait is annoying but I'll take a signed cheque over "trust me bro" anyday 😅 ngl one of my all-time favourite sessions ended with a handpay at Reward, worth every minute 🔰🎰
One slot, one love 🎰
The guy feeding a handpay straight back in is the most common story on any floor, and I'd wager most of us here did version of it once. On a small spin sample the difference between banking and recycling feels invisible, but over a year it's basically the whole bankroll conversation. My rule now: cheque goes in the cage same night, and only C$ I budgeted for the trip touches a machine again.
What I find interesting is how the wait kills the temptation for me. Sitting there for twenty minutes while a supervisor wanders over gives the dopamine time to drain, and by the time the cheque's signed the chase impulse is mostly gone. SinceRegular's discipline probably got easier once he stopped treating the handpay as part of the session. On a small spin sample, that framing is everything. 📊
Volatility > vibes.
Total noob here so go easy on me 😅 but cashing the cheque at the cage same night sounds like the move. Does anyone actually walk out with it or does the ATM get you too? 🥲

@LoonieNorth the ATM gets more of us than the cage does, trust me 😄 turned 50 into 5k once at a table and still walked out broke because the machine was right there by the door. walk the cheque to the cashier, stick it in your pocket, and go straight past that glowing box without making eye contact. greedy hands find their way back in otherwise.
I remember the old slots first-hand.
@PoutineHQ lol "they love handing you the rope" is too real 😂 that machine is basically the casino's best employee, never calls in sick
My trick is I cash the cheque and put it straight in the inside pocket of my jacket…
@OneMoreDeposit_FC turned C$50 into 5k and still walked out broke 😱 that's the most casino story ever. Gotta admit the ATM's caught me too, more than once ngl 🤣
Glad someone said the ATM thing because that glowing box got me too, turned a small win into a deposit habit real quick 😅 Maybe I'm being dumb but does the cage still cash cheques for people without much play history there? Still learning the floor etiquette tbh 🙏
New here, soaking it up.

@BigWin_Max cage cashed mine fine with barely any history, they love handing you the rope 🤣 problem was the ATM on the way out. Bank's gone twice now thanks to that glowing beauty 😂
Bank memes are therapy too.

My trick is I cash the cheque and put it straight in the inside pocket of my jacket, zip it up, done. Out of sight, out of temptation. Worked last trip, walked out with a nice hit from my favourite slot still in there and didn't give that glowing box a single loonie 🤑🔥
Though ngl some nights the slots are humming and my legs just steer me back in... discipline is a myth after 2am 😅
