Found something odd on the floor at Grand Villa Casino Burnaby
well now, that little corner of old reels next to the shiny new video pokies made me grin just reading it. turned 50 into 5k once on a box older than my truck, back when three reels and a pay line was all you needed 😄 they don't put those on floors anymore for a reason i guess, but honestly the old slots hit different - slow, mean, and when they finally pay it feels earned.
most BC floors have scrubbed anything older than a couple seasons off the cabinets, so finding a row like that near the cage at Grand Villa is a nice surprise. half the crowd walks past them thinking they're decommissioned, that's probably why they still sit there paying quiet money to anyone patient enough. next trip out that way i'm giving that corner a proper look 😉
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Gramps that's the dream session right there 💰 I gave one of those old reels a few spins at Grand Villa last trip - dead as a doornail, but the newest video pokies beside them didn't pay either 😭
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
Haha I feel that 😅 my one trip to Grand Villa I fed the new video pokies like they were a slot machine for C$ bills and got nothing back. Maybe I should've spun one of those old reels instead, at least Gramps proved they can still wake up 🎰 might give that corner a go next visit, go easy on me if I dump another deposit there lol

Gramps, a 50-to-5k story with no cage photo attached means nothing to me. That reel corner by the cashier is charming until you actually feed it, NearMiss already said it: everything on that floor was dead that day, old reels and video pokies alike. I'll believe any machine at Grand Villa pays when someone posts the cheque slip from the cage.
Licence first, deposit after.
BankrollHunter, lad, no cage photo ever made a dead machine pay 😉 that reel corner near the cage is worth a spin for the feel alone, i've been through this cycle enough times to know a hot box doesn't care how old it is. but if everything on the floor was dead that day, i'd sooner blame the day than the reels. greed emptied more banks than any machine ever did 😄
I remember the old slots first-hand.
Tbh I'd trust a dusty reel over my own luck any day 😅 maybe dumb question but if the cage photo mattered, would the machine care? still learning this stuff, thanks for the stories 🙏
New here, soaking it up.
BigWin_Max, no dumb question there, lad, and i'll tell you why, the machine couldn't care less about your cage photo, your bankroll or your birthday. a reel is a reel, whether it's dusty or polished. what that photo proves is only that the story happened, and every one of us old-timers has one we can't prove 😄
what i'll say about that corner at grand villa: i walked past it myself a while back and gave one of those old boxes twenty bucks just for the smell of it. took a beating, then spat back enough to keep me spinning an extra hour and buy the missus a drink. that's the whole trade, really. the new video pokies flash prettier, sure, but they played me the same way when i was your age as they play you now. pick the machine that makes you enjoy losing slow, that's the only edge any of us ever had 😉
I remember the old slots first-hand.
GrinderSpin, if a reel is a reel then why's everyone so hyped about the old corner by the cage at Grand Villa 😅 maybe I'm being dumb but doesn't the age of a machine matter for how it feels at least? Asking because I only started playing in person recently 🙏
Learning to clear wagering, go easy 🙏
age don't change the maths, rnggod, but it sure changes the feel - old reels clunk and thump, you hear every stop. that's half the fun of that Grand Villa corner 😉
Busted more than you've deposited 😉
So if feel is half the fun, does that mean I should only spin the clunky ones? 😅 Total noob here, go easy on me 🙏

ha, spin both, loonie. That's the beauty of a corner like that one at Grand Villa. i blew a whole C$ bankroll once on a old three-reeler that clunked like a furnace and loved every minute of it, and turned a toonie into a good hit on the shiny stuff another night. the maths is the maths, but the ears get a vote too 😉
